Elias's eyes searched mine, confusion and concern etched on his face. "What's wrong? Why did you stop?"
I shook my head, my voice barely above a whisper. "Are you crazy? We can't do this. It's forbidden."
But before I could say more, Elias's gaze shifted, and he looked up at the building behind me. His eyes widened in worry and fear, and I felt a jolt of panic.
I turned to follow his gaze, and that's when I saw her - a female student hiding in the shadows of her window, after watching us. My heart sank, and I felt like I'd been punched in the gut and doomed for death.
