Hadlee couldn’t believe what was happening. She was on an actual, honest-to-goodness date with Eric Byrd. Their first date. Her first date ever. She squealed with excitement and bounced her feet under the table. The venue was an old theatre turned into a restaurant and Eric managed to secure a box overlooking the stage for them. The show being performed was A Midsommer Night’s Dream, but they’d turned a lot of Shakespeare’s words into song, or so the playbill explained. She was clutching it in her hands while she looked around excitedly. Eric’s arm was draped along the back of her chair, his fingers tracing patterns on her shoulder while he looked at his phone absent-mindedly.
