Connor’s POV We’re home, Grace and I pull up outside my sister’s house and I stretch tiredly before peeking over at the sleeping baby beside me. After I walked around the house with the realtor, I realised that I couldn’t come back here again, then when I leave Michigan, it would be for the last time. It was just too painful, walking the halls knowing that Eva would never be back, seeing the dead flowers in a vase on the table, wondering if Duke bought them for her. Everything in the house reminded me of my wife, everything in Michigan was tainted with her memory and I couldn’t face it. Instead, I packed everything I wanted into boxes, carted them back to the motel and hired a truck to drive them home again.
