FIVE
The following day, she woke up a bit late. She was in fact woken up by her mother who was heading to church that morning. Ruth was always a church-going woman who was respected by many and admired by most women around the city. It was not just about her love for the church but her beautiful heart. She was always giving back to society. She had so many other charity foundations that she was running and she never at once missed church.
“Honey, it is ten already and you are still in bed. That is so unlike you. I thought we would be heading to church. My friends have been so much waiting to see you. In fact, I talked to them in the morning and they said that they can’t wait to see you.”
“I know mom, but I am feeling so tired today, about the flight, about the party and everything. Don’t think I am going to be able to go to church today mom, despite the fact I have this meeting with Hayley."
“What meeting with Hayley, I thought you were with her the other day, what is it that will make you kiss going to church today that you cannot discuss over the phone, huh?”
“Mom, I know you don’t like Hayley but I do not miss church because of her, I just feel tired, despite it. I am going to meet her in the evening, it is not like I am going to meet her now.”
Ruth never liked Hayley for her daughter and as much as she advised her not to be friends with her, since Arya’s childhood, the two had been inseparable, but her mother was always careful. She always noted a bit of jealousness in her but Arya and Hayley were inseparable.
“Okay, as you said then, as you can see, I am ready to go to church. I will just talk to my friends and let them know that you are not feeling well and you might join us next Sunday. Maybe you should tell that friend of yours to take you shopping. You need to shop for your official clothes, you won’t be going to the office with these skimpy dresses of yours and these crop tops, you have to look official.”
“Come on mom, I know, I might not know how to run a company, but this common sense of knowing that I need official clothes I know about it and I was actually planning to go shopping later in the day. You just gave me a good idea. I will talk to Hayley and tell her.”
“Good, I will be on my way. You have a good day, we will meet in the evening, because I have a meeting after church and please take care. Oh, I love you.” She said and kissed her on her forehead before heading to the door.
“Okay mom, I love you back and I am always careful.” She said back to her.
Arya went straight to the shower after her mom left. She stood in the shower for a long time, probably thinking about the turn of her life and everything that was going on. She just realized that she probably had to change some of her ways. She was now becoming the CEO of her family’s company and the idea was just so overwhelming.
“Good morning, ma’am, madam told me to serve you some hot coffee and it is ready. Could I bring it to your room?” One of the maidens said. The family stayed in a castle and they were always served by the maidens around her, but Arya never liked being referred to as mom, she always preferred to being called by her name, but that is what was expected from them.
“Oh my God, Maya, I have told you countless times to just call me by name, I hate that tag and you know it, come in to my room and bring the coffee with you.” She said over the call, and then placed the call back. A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” She said, she was seated around her make-up table, finalizing her make-up. Arya was not the type of person that really liked makeup, but that particular Sunday morning she had to apply some. Mascara because she had eye bags and anyone could have noticed that her eyes looked sleepy.
“Maya, I have told you countless times to always call me by my name. This habit of calling me ma’am makes me feel like an old woman already and I am just twenty-four. Come on.” She said as she pushed the chair back and Maya just stood there with the cup of coffee.
“I am sorry, ma’am, but that is what madam said we should refer you to.” She said in a humble voice.
“Okay, okay Maya, how long have you been working here, like since I was in high school? You have seen me grow into the woman I am right now and I don’t like it when you call me that tag, just call me by my name Arya, despite. Because we are more than friends.”
“Okay Arya, I think I should be on my way. I don’t want your mom to find me here.”
“Come on now, that is unnecessary. In fact, I had this idea. Why don’t you take me shopping? I was planning to go shopping, I need a few official clothes to start working tomorrow, and Hayley doesn’t have that good taste.”
“And you think I might be of help?”
“Of course, I know you do. Now why don’t you prepare yourself and meet me in the living room in half an hour?”
“I don’t think that is possible, I have so much work to do today.”
“It is possible, I will call my mom. You just go and prepare yourself. I will talk to mom and she won’t have any problems, and oh, talk to my driver, tell him to prepare the maroon hatchback. I will be using that today.”
“Okay sure, I will talk to him, let me get ready.” Maya said, and then walked out of the room.
Arya then, after getting the coffee, took her phone and scrolled it. She did not actually have a lot of friends except for Hayley, her parents and a few of those she studied with.
She then dialed her mother’s number and talked to her about her plan. Her mother was so okay with everything as long it did not have anything to do with Maya.

After Danson was done with the meeting with some of his business associates, he planned to meet with Collymore about the plan they had, so he called his chauffeur over the phone and asked him to drive him to the famous restaurant that he usually met to have discussions with his business associates.
“I am at my office. Tell David to come and take me somewhere in about ten minutes.” Danson said to Rodgers, his Personal Assistant, and his butler.
“Okay, I will give him a call right away.” He said as he reached for his phone and dialed David’s number. He picked it up on the first ring.
“Hello David, I want you to come. I need you to take the Boss somewhere.”
“Okay sir, I will be there in a few minutes.”
“Hurry up, you have ten minutes to be here.”
“Okay sir, I will be there.” He said, and then hung up.
“Danson, I would like to talk to you not just professionally but as your long-term friend, and someone who cares about Arya.”
“Okay, I already know what you want to talk about leaving Rodgers, and I am already feeling sorry about my decision, but that was the only option I was left with. I had to do something to save the company and that was the only option I had. I already regret it, but what is done is done. I can’t go back and reverse things, and I wish I was able to do that, but you and I both know that I can’t.”
“I know but that was not what I wanted to talk to you about. I just wanted to advise you as a good friend about this marriage. Why don’t you talk to Collymore and tell him to give you more time? I think it will be too soon to start talking to Arya about it, and she has not even started working at the company.” He said, and Danson nodded in agreement. He was exactly what he was talking to Ruth about and he was only hoping that Collymore would listen to him and give him more time to talk to his daughter about everything.
“That was what I was talking to Ruth about. I know she is not yet ready and I am hoping that he will agree with me and give me that time.”
“Let us hope so too, your driver is here. Let us get going. We don’t want to keep him waiting.”
“Yes sure.” He said as he stood up from his seat and followed Rodgers outside.
