SIX “I understand what you are talking about, but you know this was a signed agreement between the two of us. Don’t forget that part, this is the time we have all been waiting for. What is there to discuss about Danson again? You know how this works." Rodgers said as he sipped his drink. They were at their favorite spot, the club that Danson always set up his meetings whenever he wanted to have an important meeting. He owned the club but it was being managed by Rodgers, his right-hand man and his trusted friend. “I know all that, and that is why I called you here to talk to you about it like men. We are all fathers’ and our kids are the ones in this and not us. Just like I was telling you, my daughter has no idea of what is going on or what the agreement was all about. I just need more time to let her get used to the position she is going to walk in tomorrow at the company and maybe more time to make her understand why we did what we did was for the good of the company and her life too. I just need more time.” He said, and Rodgers nodded. It was like he understood what he really meant and what he was talking about. “Yeah, I get it and I understand what you are trying to say. I know it is something we talked about five years ago but we need that good relationship for everything to work. So when she is starting to work, you know at the company and maybe I think we should make the two meet.. So maybe they would start knowing each other more." He said, knowing Rodgers was not agreeing with his suggestion. It was a good idea. Yes, we were going to approach Arya. He had known her since her childhood and he knew that she was always overacting. She was the only child and the only heir to her father’s company and her comfortability was their priority. She was always quick to conclude and if she learnt about her father’s actions, the probability that she was going to quit working at the company was so high, that it was so much like her “I don’t think that is a good idea. She might freak out and I know her so well Arya doesn’t like being told what to do, she won’t even allow it to happen." Rodgers said, and Mr. Collymore gave him a nasty look. Collymore was the one who wanted it to happen so much, he knew what he was going to benefit from the company. First, the company had a 50-50 share profit but he knew that once his son married her, the company was going to be his son's which basically belongedto the family. Whitlock did not have a son to take over the company after he retired, but he knew that his daughter was more than capable of taking the company and taking. She, she was fierce and very confident about making things work and right, just like her mother, and that is probably one of the reasons why he married her mother. She was the reason why he even managed to come up with the company and it was a success. She was always pushing him to be the best version of him and that was the same spirit that Arya Scarlet was born with, and the idea that Collymore had in mind was not going to work. He knew his daughter better than anyone else and his idea was not going to work. “I agree with Rodgers, he is right, unless we come up with another idea, because this is not going to work for her. I just want enough time to talk to her, to make her understand the agreement, that contract and I promise everything will be okay. She just has to understand that the marriage was arranged and she has to understand that I am going to work on it, so don’t worry about that.” “I have no problem with that. For as long as you remember the contract we have. I know my son will always listen to me. I already talked to him about it but I still haven’t told him about that, because I know my son very well, he might just as well as go on and start stalking her or trying to reach out to her. It was not part of the agreement, it might ruin everything for us.” “How did he take it? You know I am just worried about her. I don’t know how he is going to take it from me, but at the end of the day, I know I just have to tell her the truth.” “He made a fuss about it, but he finally got used to it and he is in fact looking forward to meeting your daughter. Trust me, she will hate you for what you did, but she won’t hate you forever. She would finally forgive. But, but the earlier, the better for you, I did that and, trust me, it was not the best ordeal, but at least my son knows how to handle his anger." He said, and Danson sighed. He was not sure how he was going to do it, but his wife had promised to talk to her and he was hoping that she was going to convince her and let her know that it was for the best and in their best interests, and for the name of the company that they had to borrow. That, that is, to sustain their company. But as per the agreement, they were not to give back the money, but the two families were to get there and marry their kids. That was what Collymore wanted from the beginning. He knew what he was doing. Danson and his wife were so blinded that they did not say no to any of his ideas. All they wanted was the money to sustain them and their company. “I will see what to do about it. I am just glad that you have listened to my side of the story and agreed to give me that time. I will get back to you. In fact, I am going to talk to my wife about it. We will come up with a way of talking to my daughter, but for now, I just want her to get started on running the company. It is a new feeling and a new responsibility, but I want her to get used to it first, then the rest will follow.” He said as he sipped the last sip of his drink. “No problem, I appreciate you coming and calling for this meeting. I will take my leave now. I have to meet some of my friends for a meeting, I guess I will see you guys later?” He questioned as he stood from his seat and pushed the chair behind him. “Yes sure, Rodgers will see you, I have to check in first. Then I will also be on my way.” He said, and they shook hands before Rodgers led him out of the club. They were seated in the VIP section and, despite it being late I the afternoon, the club was parked. You would think that it was already midnight. *** “I have never really gone out shopping in such a big mall before.” Maya said as she helped Arya with the trolley full of all types of designer official clothes and designer bags. “No Maya, don’t say it like that, we have always been coming shopping with you.” “Yes, I know, but I have not been to this mall before.” She said. “I know, and that is why I came with you. You always know how things work. I don’t know what I could have done without you.” She said as she walked to the counter and gave her card for swiping. After a few minutes, it was done. They were walking back to her car, they had done enough shopping, more than enough clothes that could last for the whole month. She even got some clothes for Maya and bought some for her daughter who was in high school. “I am glad how you feel about this job that you are starting tomorrow. I know you are overwhelmed by everything. I just hope that you are comfortable.” She said and, for the first time, Arya felt like someone actually cared for her. No one really asked her how she felt about the new task ahead of her and when Maya asked, she felt like she was about to open up about everything that was going on. She was just not sure if she was ready to do the duty ahead of her. “I honestly don’t know what to say but it is so overwhelming, but I am sure that I will go through with it, and I will get sued. But I don’t know when everything is going to be okay.” She said as Maya helped her put the bags in the trunk, but just as she closed the trunk and turned to walk to the driver’s seat, she bumped into him. Maya thought that she had seen him somewhere or maybe her mind was just trying to play tricks on her. Then she remembered where she had seen him, in the photo in one of the Forbes magazines, and not just that she had heard Arya’s parents talking about the contract marriage, she was just not sure if she was to act surprised or act like she knew nothing about him. It was clear that Arya still did not know about her parents' agreement with Collymore.
