Megan's POV After school, I went to study in America. My parents were not very happy since they were from Italy. And I chose to go to America. I didn't fulfill what my father expected of me. My father, Antonio Pistone, is the Godfather of the Italian Mafia. I have been living in America for five years, where I met the love of my life. I finished my studies but didn't want my fiancé or his family to know who I was. I wanted to surprise him on the day of our wedding. We got engaged in our third year at university. Two years ago, I had to come home to work for my father. As I was third in charge, I had to learn everything about the Italian Mafia and our family. I have supported Tony Morelli, my fiancé, for the last two years. He was studying to become a master in business and development. After his studies, he started his own company, but it was not taking off. I convinced my father to give him small contracts at first. It did not make Tony a billionaire like me, but it did make him a millionaire. I am going to surprise Tony today. My father has agreed to give him a big contract. My father has businesses all over the world because the Italian Mafia is worldwide, and my father is the Godfather. I kept my background a secret because I wanted Tony to love me for who I am, not for my family's wealth and power. I'm worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Tonight, I want to look my best for Tony. I arrived in a limo at his birthday party, which was held at the Johnson Hotel. The driver opened the door for me, and I walked into the hotel and straight into the banquet hall. As I walked in, everybody looked at me, including Tony. I could see the surprise on his face. However, he did not look happy to see me. The reason why he's not looking so glad to see me because there is a blonde on his arm. I know her. She's my best friend, Sienna Sala. "Megan, what are you doing here? I thought you were still overseas." Tony said with surprise. He did not expect me to be here. What do you expect? I planned a whole birthday party. I am paying for everything. But I haven't told him yet. "I came to surprise you for your birthday. What is Sienna doing here? Why is she hanging on you as if you are a couple? Tony, please explain to me what is happening here." I say. I feel my heart racing in my chest. I trusted him. I thought Sienna was my best friend. Maybe she just escorted him to his birthday party because she did not want him alone. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. I am sure Tony loves me. I gave up almost everything for him. My family is not very pleased with Tony, and I was the one who arranged for this contract to be signed tonight. “While you were gone, I fell in love with Sienna. You cannot blame me for falling in love with someone else because you were all overseas the whole time. I never saw you, and I don’t believe we belong together anymore. Please do not make a scene at my birthday party. I am signing a billion-dollar contract later tonight with the Casella family. Sienna is friends with Enzo Casella and has arranged everything for me. This is her birthday present to me. She even arranged my birthday party. Don't you think it is very thoughtful of her? Please do not be angry with her. I know you used to be friends. Don't let this little thing spoil your friendship. Please leave, Megan. We have nothing left to say to each other. You can stay for the party if you like.” Tony says. My heart breaks into a thousand pieces. I can't believe that Siena is claiming to have planned everything tonight. My best friend Sienna is taking credit for the contract I arranged for Tony. My fiancé is betraying me with my best friend. For a moment, I can only stare at them. I don't know what to say to them. How can he expect me to be friends with her ever again? “Sienna arranged all of this for you, and it is her birthday present to you. Do not make me laugh?! Sienna does not have enough influence to talk to the Casella family about giving you a billion-dollar contract! You are stupid, Tony, and you just threw away your future. I have been supporting you for years. You having an affair with my best friend is the thanks I get?” I can see the panic on Sienna's face for one moment. “Who do you think you are talking down to, Megan? Why don’t you give my son back his engagement ring? What have you been doing overseas these last few years? Nobody knows what you were doing, but you had a lot of money to spend on my son. I can only imagine what a poor girl like you would do for money. I do not want my son to get an STD from you!” Arabella, Tony's mother, says. “So that is what you think of me. Do you believe that I am a s*x worker? Oh, what a big mistake you made. You are going to regret every word you say. I can always call my uncle Dante Casella to cancel everything. For years, I have looked after your son and your family! This is the thanks that I get. I am being accused of being a s*x worker!" I say. I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Arabella was always friendly to me. What happened? Why did she change her tune? “Megan, please, don’t make a fool of yourself by pretending to be a member of the Casella family. Do not pretend that you are the one who arranged this contract for Tony. I have already introduced Tony to Enzo. He knows Enzo and I are friends.” Sienna says. "I know my cousin and my family. They will be friendly if you run into them, but I am sure Enzo is not friends with you. I introduced you to him, remember? I forgot to mention to you that he is my cousin. I didn’t want my identity to come out because I wanted to see if Tony loves me for who I am. Tony never loved me. Tony loves money. Whoever can give him the most of it will always be his girlfriend. It is such a shame that he fell for the wrong girl. I know your family. You are not that influential. I never used my surname in front of any of you. I am Megan Pistone.” I say. "Stop pretending to be somebody you are not, Megan, although you are beautiful. I only used you until I got a better woman. Sienna is much better than you. Why would you mention a surname like Pistone? Who is the Pistone family? What makes them so important?" Tony asks. He does not know my family because we mainly live in Italy. Very few people know the Pistone family here in America. "Honey, Antonio Pistone is the Godfather of the Italian Mafia, and Megan is pretending to be his daughter." Sienna laughs. “I asked them to keep my identity secret to see if Tony truly loved me before I helped him. I am glad you showed your true colours before we signed a contract. You played your role well, Tony, calling me daily, sending me text messages, and telling me how much you love me so I would send you money. You never directly asked for money. I must tell you that you knew how to play with my feelings. It is a shame you showed your true colours before you signed the contract.” I say. I picked up my phone and called my uncle, but he did not answer, so I left him a voicemail. “Uncle Dante, I want you to cancel the contract with Marelli Enterprises. I don’t want to help them anymore. Tell your representative to turn around.” I say. “Good performance, Megan. It is a shame that everybody knows Dante Casella does not give out his phone number to anyone. Everyone knows he is retiring, and Enzo handles all his business now. Stop this little act of yours. Nobody is buying it!” Sienna says. My heart is broken, and I am in shock. I don't have time for Sienna right now. I want to go home and cry for days. I cannot believe Tony fooled me! I cannot believe the man I love betrayed me with my best friend.
