Her wide silver eyes stared up at me in surprise. Alarm made my body tense and my head began to spin. I had just pulled a heart from a mermaid’s body and now my baby decides to make an entrance! I am frozen in place, staring down at the puddle of liquid on the floor, wondering what the f*ck do we do now, when her hearty laughter pulls me from my daze.
