(Alexander) The next morning, I woke up to the sound of the sea. Sophie was still asleep beside me, her head resting lightly on my chest. I brushed a strand of hair from her face and smiled. The ring on her finger caught the light. I could not stop looking at it, at her. Last night had been perfect. She had said yes, and I still could not believe it. “Alexander,” she murmured, her voice sounding sleepy. “Good morning,” I said, smiling down at her. She opened her eyes and stretched, her face lighting up when she saw me. “Morning,” she said. “Ready for the beach?” I laughed. “Always.” We dressed quickly in swimsuits and headed down to the shore.
