I woke to soft pressure against my chest, little kisses trailing along my collarbone. Sophie’s lips were warm, her touch gentle, as if she didn’t want to wake me completely. I cracked an eye open, smiling down at her. She looked peaceful, hair splayed across the pillow, and for a moment, I just stayed there, letting her small gestures pull me fully awake.
“Morning,” she whispered, brushing her lips against mine once more.
“Morning,” I murmured back, my voice rough from sleep.
“I was thinking,” I said softly, keeping my voice low so it wouldn’t startle her, “I’m going to be busy today.”
She nodded and leaned back onto the pillow. "Yeah, I figured. I can work from home, but it's going to be boring without you." That made me smile.
