"We have something for you!" Lucy says as she hands me something gift wrapped. I slowly take the present from her.
"What is this?" I ask her, taken aback that they were giving me something.
"We thought it would be nice to gift you some things for the baby," Maya replies. "Lucas would want us to treat both you and his baby well."
"Absolutely," Isabella chimes in. "We made sure to include a little something for you too. We can't just get something for the baby and leave you out."
Overwhelmed with emotion, I can't help but feel grateful. These people were just as loving as Lucas, and his entire family made me feel so welcome. Despite the fact that I was asking them to keep such important information from him, they were still treating me with love and respect.
