The ground below me vibrated as the air darted out of my body and into the world. Max had knocked me on my ass, his breathing was rigid and his face scrunched up with regret. A simple distraction could cost you your life. This would definitely not be a great time for a battle. My mind was lost in its own parallel world. I lay on the grass field longer than I needed to, not because I was in pain but because my mind wouldn't shut up. “I’m sorry Aliyah, I didn’t mean to.” Max’s voice was filled with concern and regret. He extended his hand to me and helped me to my feet. “Maybe we should go see Dr. Mancini? Or we can just wait until you're better to train?” I shook my head and pinched the bridge of my nose. “I’m all healed up Max, I’m honestly just distracted from our meeting this morning.
