That was bullshit.
I was immediately dismissed and wasn’t able to say what I had in mind. They should have not booted me out of the team. I have done so much and this was what would happen to me?
The meeting left me furious. I tried to talk to my commanding officer after we left the general’s office, but he did not want to hear anything from me.
“I cannot do anything about the general’s decision, Leo,” he looked at me with defeated eyes. For the short time he was my commanding officer, I became close to him and he treated me as one of his sons. “I only got to know this morning, too. I told him how much you have done for this team. You have shown leadership and hard work beyond what was expected of you. You have a brilliant mind, probably the best I had in my team.”
