Then, when we were about to walk away, suddenly someone called from behind, “Evan!”
“Damn!” I heard Evan cursing in a low tone.
Knowing it was Emily, I forced a smile at him. He returned the cold smile, and together we looked over our shoulders before turning around to her. Folding her arms, she stood tapping her feet.
“What do you want?” inquired Evan.
“It's time for my appointment with my dentist!” she replied and glanced at her watch.
“So?” Evan mumbled.
“Duh!” She rolled her eyes. “We are running late. Let's go.” She gestured with her hand, calling him.
I had already seen that coming. Sadly, all I could do was clench my fist and bare her presence. The trip was canceled. I knew that for sure.
