Benny’s POV
We get the kids strapped into the truck, I’m still buzzing with excitement, I want to give them all their gifts that I spent my entire lunchtime buying with the help of the sales assistant in the department store. I was going to hand out the bags now, but with the whole talk about the military and then Austin proclaiming himself freezing and wanting to go home, I have held off.
Pulling away from the edge of the road, I follow the now familiar route back to the siblings’ home. Tanner is in the back talking animatedly about his new friend Harriett and honestly, it f.ucking warms me to hear him so happy.
