Avery’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“What do you want to know?” Marie asked me in the same low tone, but she was now comfortable with me. “Everything …. That you know,” I replied to her nonchalantly, and she nodded in response. We were now slowly walking towards the side of the palace where my room was. There were now very few people around, and it was good for me.

“Well….. let’s begin with our former king and queen,” Marie said further and I nodded in response this time. “The king – Killian King…. He is the best king till this time, and his mate, the queen – Athena King… she is also the best ,” she continued and I raised my brows curiously.

“Both of them did everything to bring equality among the ranks and it was their efforts that we…. Omegas (she emphasized this rank while looking at me expectantly, making me nod to her)…. Can live a better life,” she finished and I scoffed internally.

It was indeed true. Emma had a knack for history despite of being a computer geek. Her memories were filled with everything about the history of this world. Their downfall, their glories, their flaws….. everything….

Still, it couldn’t change this fact that they didn’t protect Emma. She was the only werewolf with no wolf. Yet they didn’t do a thing to make her feel safe among her own people.

“They are very kind, and very easy-going people with high morals. But it doesn’t mean that you can be friendly with them. They have to keep their distance from the people because of the highest status that they have,” she continued telling about the old royal couple. It was already in Emma’s knowledge. So, it wasn’t something knowledgeable for me.

“Our present king, Marcus King,” she took other names, and my heart skipped a beat. I didn’t know why I had this reaction by just listening to his name, but I felt something churning inside me after listening to his name.

“He is completely opposite to his father though. It’s not like he is a cruel ruler…. No, he is also an amazing ruler just like his father, and he earned a name by his hard work not only in our world, but also in the human world. He is one of the top ten successful billionaire bachelors there,” she continued, praising the present king, and I knitted my brows.

I guess I missed something in Emma’s memories. “Human world?” I uttered in confusion, and Marie jerked her head lightly in confusion. “Yeah… Human world… Humans are far inferior to us in terms of looks, intelligence, and strength, but they exist with us. You know this, right?” she asked me while looking at me curiously.

“Ha…. Of course, I know… who doesn’t know…. Do you think I am that dumb, huh?” I immediately retaliated, suppressing my nervousness hard, but I clearly didn’t have any idea about what she told me. I needed to investigate tonight so that I wouldn’t be clueless about anything like this.

“King’s Empire is a big name in the world, my lady, and I am very proud that it’s our king and his family that own that empire, not a human family,” she said with pride, puffing her chest out. My heart once again skipped a beat.

King’s Empire??????

Was this the same empire that I know?????

My brain started running a marathon in my mind with all the information, and knowledge that I had from both me and Emma. My company had two joint ventures with King’s Corporation. Was she talking about the same King’s?

“Wh… what did you tell the King’s name?” I asked her immediately, interrupting whatever she was telling me. “Uhhh…. Marcus King…. Everyone knows his name, my lady. What’s wrong?” she asked me in a confused tone after answering me.

Marcus King……

I …. I knew this name…. I… I am familiar with this name…. my dad was in constant touch with this man…..

“Uhhhh….. nothing…. Nothing…. I… I…. I… I guess I am just tired,” I gave an excuse to her in a daze, still thinking about whether I was really in a fantasy world or the real world. If I was still in the real world, then I must find a way to reach my family. I had to ensure where I am now.

“Okay…. Okay… we are almost there,” she answered me with concern, and I just nodded in response. My mind was now in a haze. It seemed that I didn’t go through all the memories of Emma. In this world of technology, a whole species couldn't stay hidden from everyone. If they were aware of human’s presence around them, it meant that they were advanced in their technologies, and succeeded in keeping them hidden among us.

Marie was still saying something to me enthusiastically, but my mind wasn’t registering anything else now. If there was any way to return to my family, I was determined to find that way. Even if it involves the werewolf king. If what Marie told me about him was true, then he must be that powerful in our world. I needed to find out the truth as soon as possible so that I could go back to my family.

Marie left me at my bedroom door. I thanked her and shut the door behind me. I almost ran to the closet and took my luggage out. I remembered that I saw Emma’s laptop in the luggage. After finding the laptop, my eyes lit up.

The next moment, I was sitting on the bed with my laptop on my lap, and it took me only a few seconds to connect to the wi-fi of the palace. I was now biting my nails in anticipation. For a few seconds, I couldn’t think of what I wanted to search.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I was both excited and scared right now. After waking up in Emma’s body, I didn’t see what day or what year it was, the first that I should have done. I slowly opened my eyes and looked at the right corner of the laptop.

My heart skipped in fear when I saw the date. It had been two years…. I…. I was dead for two years?????

Tears once again blurred my vision. For two years…. For two long years…. I was away from my family…. For two long years… I was dead for everyone…. Everything would have changed in these two years… tears once again streamed down without my permission. It was really hard to control my emotions now because of Emma. She had an emotional personality, and shed tears easily.

I wiped my eyes immediately and focused on what I needed to do. I opened the browser and typed my company’s name first. HUDSON CORPORATION…….

In a second, the link popped up, and my lips trembled. My fingers unconsciously caressed the logo of my company. My vision was once again blurred, and a muffled whimper escaped my lips. I was not in a fantasy world. I was in the real world.

I wiped my eyes again, and clicked the link. It surely didn’t have everything about the company, but my eyes narrowed when I saw Nathan’s information as COO of the company. When did this happen?

Nathan Winters…. My fiancée….. no…. my ex-fiancee….. There was a time when I had blind faith in him. I was so in love with him that I ignored any negative news about him all those years. In other words, he was an expert in feigning innocence and made you believe every word that came out of his mouth.

I scoffed and immediately searched for other information relevant to my family and Nathan. It had been two years. It was enough time for him to execute his plan of taking over my family business and wealth. I couldn’t deny that I was relieved in a way that he was still the COO of the company. My father was still the chairman, and ……

Wait….. what’s that….

I narrowed my eyes when I saw the name of the person in the CEO’s position….. how could this be????

My heart stopped beating for a good few seconds. I was still staring at the name of the person in shock. How could this be????????

I tried hard to find out about the events related to the change in CEO’s position, but it seemed that everything was suppressed very well. I groaned in frustration and looked in the other direction while running my fingers through my hair.

I then opened another window and quickly typed my name. I was an influential figure both academically and in the business world. I smiled bitterly when my photo appeared on the screen. It was me two years ago. I had a faint smile on my lips with a natural arrogance on my face.

Yeah…. It was me…..

I felt a surge of emotions twirling inside my heart once again….. now I was nothing like my past self…..

I sniffed harder this time, and clicked on the link. There was complete information about my whole life there…. My birth…. My academic achievements all over the years….. my other achievements in some other fields too, but this wasn’t I wanted to know.

Soon, I reached the point where they mentioned my engagement and my sudden disappearance. My brows furrowed when I read what they had written there…… I was still missing….. it meant that they hadn’t found my dead body yet….

I jerked my head backward while widening my eyes in shock when I read the next piece of information….. how this happened? When did this happen? How did I not know about this?????
