Chapter 2

1550 Words
"A hundred million dollars?" The words felt outrageous as they left my lips. I glanced up at him and I saw his piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, waiting for an answer. “A win-win for both of us, right?” My mind raced with countless thoughts. How could I marry a man i barely knew? I narrowed my eyes at him. "For goddess’ sake, I don’t even know you! How could I marry a stranger? Who's to say you won’t kidnap me or worse?" The words tumbled out before I could stop them, and a pang of regret hit me almost instantly. But a part of me didn’t care. What if he really was dangerous? I’d learned the hard way never to trust anyone. Trusting people only led to your downfall. That lesson came painfully clear in my former pack, when everyone—including my best friend, and my so-called boyfriend—betrayed me without a second thought. Suddenly, his loud laugh broke through my thoughts. I blinked, confused. What could possibly be so funny? "Look, girl. Don’t you think it’s a pretty bad idea to waste our time here? You’re in need of urgent cash, aren’t you?" His voice was filled with so much impatience. He then turned and walked back to his car. “If I were you, I’d sign the contract without thinking twice.” Climbing in, he rolled down the window, and his gaze locked onto mine. "Give me a call when you decide. And just so you know, don’t try to play smart. I’ll find you wherever you are, and trust me, you wouldn’t like the consequences." With that, he revved the engine and sped off, leaving me standing there, stunned and speechless. I raised my middle finger at him, grumbling under my breath. Goddess! I absolutely hated this man. My day couldn’t possibly get any worse. He was so arrogant and condescending; the thought of marrying someone like him was out of the question. I’d rather work hard and find a way to pay off the damage than be tied to a jerk like him. With a huff, I walked to my car and tossed the file onto the back seat. Pulling out the black card, I double-checked the address before speeding off. *** Driving to the SG Club took only five minutes. If I had been more careful, I thought, I wouldn’t have had that awful encounter with that man. Navigating my way through the club and finally meeting the owner was a bit of a challenge, but I eventually succeeded. She was an older woman with her brown hair neatly tied back. Her glasses sat firmly on her nose, and the wrinkles on her face suggested she was much older than she likely was—probably in her fifties. After staring at me for what felt like an eternity, she finally broke the tense silence. To my surprise, her voice was much sweeter than I expected. “Yes, dear. How may I assist you?” I blinked rapidly, trying to gather my thoughts, and swallowed hard. “Ma’am, I really need to find a way to support my sick mother. I have a mountain of debts to pay, too. Please, can you help me?” I clasped my hands together. She scrutinized me from head to toe, shifting in her seat. “Well, too bad this isn’t a charity organization. I don’t give out loans.” I bit my lip. I should have been more specific about looking for a job. "But you really are pretty. You’d do great in this job offer I have for you,” she said, causing a blush to creep onto my cheeks as I muttered a soft thank you. “I’m willing to do anything. I just don’t want my mother to die…please,” I pleaded, hoping to evoke some sympathy from her. After all, she was a woman, too. She nodded and pulled a book from the shelf beside her. Flipping through the pages, she extracted a pink card and handed it to me. With trembling hands, I leaned forward to take the card, my eyes scanning its contents. My gaze shot back up to meet hers in an instant. “Room 302? Wh..what’s this for?” I asked, but she only giggled and rolled her eyes at my question. “Don’t play naive, girl. Who comes here without knowing what this place is for?” she replied. I paused, realizing the harsh truth. Was I really considering selling my body to make ends meet? Shame washed over me. She reached for a bag next to her and tossed it my way. “You can’t go in looking like that. Change into this, serve the man well, and when you come back tomorrow morning…” She trailed off, assessing me all over again. “You’ll get fifty thousand dollars.” I swallowed hard. Wasn’t that an outrageous amount? For just one night? As if reading my mind, she quickly added, “If you’re wondering, we only send you to exceptionally wealthy men. Rest assured, you’ll get your money. The hotel’s address is at the back of the card. Just do what you need to do—don’t mess it up.” She emphasized the last part, waving her hand dismissively as I clutched the bag tighter and hurried out of her sight. My life felt like it was spiraling into an abyss with each passing moment. I just couldn’t understand why the moon goddess had it out for me. I had wrestled with this decision countless times in the past three hours. If my mother died, I would never forgive myself for not doing everything I could to pay for her treatment. I was going to do this. It was just for one night, after all, and after that, I’d never have to see him again. It seemed like a small price to pay for my mother’s life. “Two more shots, please!” I shouted over the blaring music in the dimly lit room. The bartender rushed to my side. “Ma’am, you’ve had enough already. Isn’t six shots a bit much for someone like you?” he asked, concern etched on his face. I shot him a disdainful glare and slurred.. “You don’t get to tell me what to do! I’m…I’m paying with my money, not you..rs. Now get me those two shots.” He hesitated for a moment but then scrambled to fill my order. A few minutes later, he returned with the drinks. I took them from him and downed both in an instant. My throat felt like it was on fire, and a fog settled over my mind. I glanced at my phone and realized it was already 8 PM. s**t, I hoped the man I was supposed to meet wouldn’t be angry with me. After paying for my drinks, I got up. My legs wobbled beneath me, and my vision blurred as I dragged myself toward the room. There it was—Room 302. I reached for the card to swipe it but noticed the door was slightly ajar. With a quick push, I flung it open and stepped inside, my heart pounding. The room was dimly lit, and I scanned the space for the man I was supposed to meet. Just then, I saw a figure emerging from another door. “Who the hell are you?” he demanded, and a chill ran down my spine at the authority in his voice. He flicked the lights on, and I caught my breath. He looked like a Greek god! Even in my hazy state, I couldn't deny how perfectly sculpted he was, even though he looked a bit older. Water dripped from his tousled brown hair, enhancing his allure. “Come on, handsome, let’s just get this over with,” I slurred, trying to sound confident. He seemed puzzled but walked over to the bed and took a seat. My eyes were drawn to his pink lips, and before I realized it, I walked over to him, pulling away my clothes as I went. I positioned myself on his thighs, my body turned fully toward him. He stiffened, a growl escaping his lips. “What are you doing...?” before he could finish, I pressed my lips to his. He pushed me away, his voice low and rough. “Stop. You have no idea what you're getting into,” he warned. My thoughts were muddled, and my words tumbled out in a slur. “Do I… look like I care? Every part of me wants you.” A fiery glint flickered in his eyes at my words. I kissed him again, and this time he didn’t hold back. He tightened his grip on my throat and responded to my kiss with fervor. His lips felt soft, and the sweetness of his taste lingered against mine. He lifted me onto the bed, tossing aside the towel that covered him. The sight of him exposed sent shivers down my spine. I knew this shouldn’t be happening, but I couldn’t resist. Before I realized it, he was doing things to me that set every nerve in my body on fire, and my moans filled the air as the night slipped away.
