A sharp pain throbbed in my head as I blinked my eyes open, struggling to sit upright. My gaze wandered around the room before settling on the man beside me— the same perfect one I’d spent the night with.
I forced myself to look away, reminding myself it was done. The only thing that mattered now was meeting Ma Flora to collect my $50,000. A thrill of excitement coursed through me at the thought.
Stretching out my hand, I grabbed my phone from the table and switched it on immediately. My eyes caught the sight of about 30 missed calls, all from Ma Flora.
My mind raced. What could have happened? Maybe she was just in a hurry to give me my money, I thought, trying to calm myself.
I quickly scrambled out of bed, hurriedly picking up my clothes. Without a second thought, I tiptoed out of the room as quietly as I could and rushed to my car, my mind still spinning with possibilities.
I let out a heavy sigh as I drove straight to the SG club to meet Ma Flora.
As soon as I stepped inside, I saw Ma Flora standing there, and she did not look pleased. Her fists were tightly clenched, and her eyes burned with fury as she glared at me. My stomach sank. What on earth had happened?
I blinked, trying to find my voice. "Sorry for missing your—"
"Where the hell were you last night?" she cut me off, her voice thundering across the room. "I told you not to mess this up! I warned you!" she yelled, her tone making me flinch with every word.
I froze. What did she mean by asking where I was last night?
“I... I was with the man you told me to meet,” I stammered with a shaky breath. “I swear, that was where I was. I didn’t mess up. In fact, I left him right before coming here.”
She continued glaring at me, her expression hard as stone. Then, she tilted her head to the side, and my eyes followed her gaze.
They landed on an older man sitting nearby, legs crossed. He looked chubby, his stomach protruding like a pregnant woman’s, and the overall sight of him made my stomach churn with disgust.
“This is the man you were supposed to meet last night!” she shouted again, and I shivered slightly. If this was the man I was meant to meet, then who had I left in the room?
“You look so beautiful, lady. Too bad I waited all night for you, and you never showed up.” His voice was grating and a bit sleazy, and for a moment, I silently thanked the goddess he wasn’t the one I had been with.
Ma Flora’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “Give me the card, now! And get the hell out of here!”
I quickly fumbled through my bag, pulling out the card and handing it over. That’s when my eyes caught the inscription boldly written on it: Room 302. No, no. I clearly remembered scurrying out of Room 203 this morning.
I was…officially screwed.
Dropping to my knees immediately, I clasped my hands together. “P…please, it was a mistake. I...I drunkenly went to the wrong room. Please, let me make it up to you... I swear.”
“I never knew a pretty girl like you could be so dumb,” the pot-bellied man scoffed.
“I never knew either.” Ma Flora shook her head in disgust before turning to two burly men standing a short distance away. “Billy, come take this foolish girl out of here.”
“No...no, please, my mother—” I quickly stopped myself as the man’s nails dug into my skin, yanking me out and throwing me outside.
Sitting in my car, I glanced at the mirror and noticed my disheveled hair. I looked as if I hadn’t eaten or slept in days, and all my energy seemed to be draining away. I felt utterly worthless.
As I looked up into the mirror again, my eyes caught sight of a file on the back seat. Turning my head, I reached for it gently.
This was my only option now. I grabbed my phone and dialed the numbers boldly printed at the end of the agreement.
He answered on the last ring.
“Hello, how may I help you?” His voice carried a hint of arrogance that made my stomach twist.
“I’ll sign the contract and marry you, as long as you keep your promise.”

The silence between Nathan and I was heavy, almost suffocating, as he gripped the steering wheel with white-knuckled intensity. I could feel his eyes flicker toward me every few seconds, though neither of us spoke.
Finally, he reached over to turn down the music, his gaze lingering on me for a moment before he cleared his throat. "So,what made you change your mind?"
I ignored him at first, continuing to fidget with my hands, staring blankly at the road ahead. I didn’t even know where he was taking me.
After a long pause, I finally turned to him. “What else if not the money?" The words came out colder than I intended, but I didn’t care. "I told you, I need to pay my mother’s bills.”
He glanced at me, and giggled almost immediately.
I stared at him, wondering what he found so amusing.
"The money?" he repeated in a teasing tone. "Or is it the desire to be called Luna and be treated like royalty?"
My stomach twisted. "W-what do you mean, Luna?"
He sighed, his amusement fading into annoyance. "Come on, Adele. Didn’t you read the contract? It clearly states that once you marry me, you’ll as well be my Luna for a year, and then we part ways. Or are you trying to act smart?"
His words hit me like a punch to the gut. I hadn’t read through the agreement thoroughly, too focused on the money. My hands started to shake. His Luna? What had I gotten myself into?
“I had no idea-”
“We’re here,” Nathan’s voice cut as he got down.. He then slammed his door shut with a force that rattled me, snapping my attention to the scene before me. My jaw nearly dropped at the sight. Calling it heavenly felt like an understatement—this was the pack mansion, grander than anything I could’ve imagined.
He strolled inside, not bothering to wait for me. I hurried to catch up as I forced myself to quicken my steps even though my legs felt heavy with nerves.
I tried to steady my breathing as we reached what looked like the living room, my fingers clutching the small bag I had brought. My eyes darted to the maids who passed by, each bowing politely at us. Nathan barely acknowledged them and instead signaling for one of them to show me to my room.
I stared at him in disbelief. It wasn’t even the room that left me stunned. I had no intention of sleeping there with him, and he clearly knew it.
He furrowed his brows, annoyance flickering across his face. “What? You think we’ll be sharing a room? Too bad that won’t be happening.”
Without another word, he turned and walked up the stairs, leaving me standing there alone.
The urge to smack him surged through me,but before I could react, the maid in front of me gently called out, "Ma’am? I’ll lead you to your room. Please follow me."
She led me to my room, which was more elegant than I had expected. The walls were adorned with intricate designs. The bed looked like something straight out of a luxury magazine.
I sank into the bed, its softness enveloping me, and before I knew it, I was out, the exhaustion of the day finally catching up with me.
I hadn't even realized I'd fallen asleep until the loud knock jolted me awake.
Squinting at the clock, I saw that I’d been out for a full seven hours. What the hell? Panicked, I shot up from the bed, my vision still blurry as I stumbled to the door. When I opened it, I was greeted by the same maid from earlier, standing there patiently.
"Ma'am—"
"Just call me Adele, please," I interrupted, watching as a flicker of unease crossed her face. She swallowed hard, shifting slightly before continuing, her voice softer now as she avoided my gaze.
"Uh... right. The Alpha Prince requests your presence. He says dinner’s ready, and you should join them," she said quickly with her eyes glued to the floor.
"Okay. I’ll be there," I sighed. I instantly felt a knot tighten in my stomach at the thought of facing him again.
It took me only a few minutes to rinse my face and try to look presentable before heading downstairs for dinner—with my fiancé.
As I descended the stairs, my gaze was fixed on the floor, trying to avoid the reality of the situation. I gave myself a mental push to at least look up and see Nathan. But as soon as I did, I missed a step, sending me crashing to the floor.
My heart pounded in my chest as I scrambled to my feet, trying to regain my composure. Sweat beaded on my forehead, and embarrassment flushed through me.
My gaze flickered to the dining table, and for a second, I hoped I was imagining things. But I wasn’t. There were three people seated there—Nathan, a blonde-haired girl who I assumed was his sister, and... him.
The man I had a one-night stand with just yesterday was sitting there, his piercing gaze locked onto mine, sending a shiver through me.
