Close to death
The night was chaotic, dark and lit only by a full moon that casts eerie shadows on a bridge leading to the countryside.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHH..."
"GGGGGHHRRRRRR.."
There were horrible animal sounds mix with the screams of people, and they were running for their lives as flames flicker from overturned cars, some engulfed in fire, while others leak oil onto the pavement. The air is thick with smoke and fear.
"Gene..... GEEENNEE" A voice of a woman laying on the ground on the road came out. She was calling out for her best friend.
But amidst this chaos, Gene was still in the car and she was trapped. She slowly opens her eyes but she immediately felt a very harsh headache. Even opening her eyes was difficult to her but eventually she did. But what she saw was difficult for her to understand because, she was feeling as though her entire world has flipped upside down. Her car has crashed and rolled over, and she’s disoriented, unsure of how she ended up in this nightmare. All she can see from her eyes are the frantic feets of people rushing past her car.
In the distance but right behind them were dark shapes dart by wolves, large and menacing, their legs moving swiftly as they join the frenzy of escape.
What she saw surprised her so bad that with a surge of panic, Gene struggles to open her eyes wider. She sees flames licking at the wreckage around her, other vehicles crumpled and broken like hers. Only a few seconds ago, things were just fine, these people that were around her laying on the ground where were driving minutes ago.
"Hhhuhhhh..." She started to gasp heavily suddenly at the sight of bloodied hands and feet scattered nearby.
"Noo...."
Suddenly warm trickle runs down her face, and she realizes it’s blood. The metallic smell fills her nostrils, intensifying her fear.
She understood that she couldn't stay here and she had to go back to her friend, Jennifer.
And so Gene tries to move, but her body feels heavy and weak. Glass shards from the shattered windows cut into her skin, and her seatbelt has left a deep mark on her neck.
"Aahhhhhh..... Ahhhh." She attempts to shift her weight but is overwhelmed by pain. But suddenly the pain started to increase on her chest and her eyes went wide open in shock.
"Ahhh..." She moaned in pain, as her breathing got heavy. But with a lot of effort she move her head up and her head too was physically shaking. It was the body was going in shock as well and that is when she completely noticed large jagged claw mark stretching across her chest to her stomach. And she was covered by her own blood, around her and under her.
"Hhuuuuuh..."
Tears well up in her eyes as the sounds of screaming people and wild animals engulf her. Every breath is a struggle, her chest tight with pain. She wants to scream, to cry, but exhaustion settles over her like a heavy blanket. Desperate to escape the horror around her, she leans back against the wreckage, shards of glass digging into her skin.
Gene feels the weight of hopelessness pressing down on her.
"Aahhh...HELPPP... HELP." People were screaming all around her.
Gene's anxiety was getting to her.
"Mom..." She whispered softly, even though she was an adult now, but she was wanting to be closer to her family. And immediately closed her eyes, wishing for the noise to stop, for the chaos to fade away. In this moment, all she can think about is the pain and the fear and this forced her to close her eyes.
"ATTACK."
A very loud, thunderous and brutal voice came through, authority filled in the tone. And with that voice came through a enormous army of wolves and well built, furious women and men. All of the rushing from the forest to them bridge.
The Alpha King was here, a powerful figure commanding respect and fear, returns to his territory with a fierce army at his back.
The King was a enormous man, shoulders wide and broad and his stand was strong. But his eyes health such terror and anger. The man was clenching his jaws looking around at the chaos.
His army of wolves and humans immediately all run past him and to the mission right in front of them, rushing toward a burning bridge while the screams of human started to increase.
"GET THEM ALL OUT OF HERE." The Beta Screams at his people as the humans are caught in the middle of a fierce battle against rogue wolves, their primal howls mixing with the terrified cries of the people.
However, the King on the other hand, he was very firmly walking from the thick forest behind him and towards the road. He was carefully watching his army and the rogues coming into a large collision.
Although, his presence is commanding, he moves with confidence, ready to protect his domain and its inhabitants.
Immediately his eyes landed on the rogues and these wild dog were trying to break the window of a car that had family members in it.
"Aaahhhhhh...."
"Mooommmm..." Little boy screenshot mother tight.
The King could hear the adult screaming, protect their children and their children screaming as the wolves tried everything in the power to break that car.
And that was enough for him, as his eyes turned black entirely and the veins in his neck started to grow out. The kind of anger he felt looking at those while dogs his body was steaming in heat and without a warning he immediately rushed.
The King then charges into the fray, his strength is evident. With all of its power he grabbed one of the wolves that was the same height as the car, by the neck. He threw him at the the ground. The wolf growled in pain and that was enough to break and c***k the neck and skull of that wolf. The other wolf got a glance of what happened to one of his man and he let go of pushing the car. He then turned to the king, howling and growling. Showing off his teeth that had blood splated all over.
Without a warning the wolf immediately jumped at the King and the King did not have to put a lot of pressure but he got him by the jaw, splitting his mouth open.
"GGGGGRRRR..." The wolf was trying to protest and get out of the grip. But it wasn't possible because the king was holding on to his mouth so tight causing the wolf to go into immense pain but the king did not stop and stretched his mouth more wide and more open.
The cars around them still burning and the screams of the people had quiet down but it was the other wolves that was screaming and howling in pain.
He battles the rogue wolves with precision, every strike a testament to his dominance.
"AAAHHHH..." Right there and then the king let out a heavy scream and dark veins where now spreading out from his eyes, surrounding his eyes. And right there and then he split and broke the mouth of the wolf, throwing the wolf down.
Lifeless it was on the ground, just a gray ball and nothing more.
The king's breath was lightly heavy on his chest, but amidst the chaos, something draws his attention. He paid a lot of concentration to it suddenly stopping on his track. And that is when he very clearly heard as he was concentrating, a faint heartbeat pulsing with life.
The King immediately stopped breathing heavy and turned around trying to focus where that sound was coming from. His face a frown, but his eyes were still black because his wolf was taking over. However the sound of the heartbeat was still cutting through the noise.
He had come to know that the noise was coming from the wreckage of the cars that were crushed in the chaos. His supernatural senses hone in on it, amplifying the sound, making his instincts kick in.
The King feels an unshakeable urgency. He races toward the sound, his massive human form is a blur as he dodges other combatants. His army and the rogues battle fades into the background but he was consumed by the instinctual need to save whoever lies trapped.
As he nears a black car, he sees it, a large wolf is trying to pull the wreckage away from something, or someone. With every ounce of his strength, he lunges at the rogue and his muscles rippling. In a fierce moment he grabs the wolf by its face, ripping it apart with a brutal force that sends a clear message.
The King immediately leaps to the vehicle. He tears the door off its hinges, metal shrieking. He bent down only to finds a woman. And she was unconscious and vulnerable, lying amidst the wreckage.
"No." He said the himself. And for a moment he froze in horror. He was supposed to protect her but he stopped.
This was no ordinary girl. the scent that she carried was of the forest, rich and vibrant, alive. His heart races as he recognizes her and it was unmistakable.
"Mate." He whispered, his rough voice came out very thick and just then a sense of anger spread around him. This woman that was dying in front of him was his mate, the destined queen of his enormous Kingdom. He never expected to find her and here she was.
Out of nowhere the oil truck that was leaking in the corner started to catch flame from a burning car and very quickly there was a blast that alarmed every single human and animal there.
The terrifying noise spread and there was fire ball just bursting and rushing to capture anything and anyone.
The fire crackles ominously and it was only inching closer to the car.
The King could not and did not waste a second. He quickly unbuckles her seatbelt, freeing her from the wreckage. He pulls her into his strong arms and immediately shielded her from the flames.
That hot, pressured fire was pushing him forward forcefully and the flames that came on to him was taking his flesh and skin with it. The heat intensifies, searing the air around him, but he pushes through, instinct driving him to shield her at all costs.
Suddenly, the oil truck erupts, a massive blast that engulfs everything in fire. The King feels the heat singe his body as he huddles protectively over her. In that split second, he becomes the barrier between life and death, taking the full force of the flames. The fire roars around them, it threatens to consume everything in its path.
For a moment, time seems to freeze. The world blurs as the fire envelops them both.
He slowly opened his eyes, looking down at his mate, as his face was inches away from her. Hey could see her face clearly through The fire that was raging around them, but he couldn't let her go. Almost as a his body wouldn't let her go.
For a long time there was just the bright light of orange and yellow surrounding them.
...
...
...
Then, just as suddenly silence fell. The flames flicker and dim, leaving a haunting emptiness in their wake. The King senses reeling. His back is badly burned but he barely registers the pain.
As the king's army and some of the men and women approached him, they were met with a scene that left them in a state of shock and confusion. The king, their leader and brother, was holding a woman in his arms, her chest bearing a large and deep cut that was bleeding profusely. The air was thick with tension, the only sound being the heavy breathing of the warriors.
Simon, the king's brother and beta, stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the king's face, which was expressionless. However, his gaze was fixed intently on the woman, and it was then that Simon's eyes widened in surprise.
"Queen." He whispered and his voice started to reach multiple other warriors. Right then the warriors gasped in horror. The one they had been searching for for years, was lying in the king's arms, her life slipping away.
Some of the warriors looked on in horror, while others seemed frozen in place, unsure of how to react. Simon's voice was laced with concern as he addressed the king.
"My king?"
"For all of these human, is there a transport coming ?." The king's response was brief and rough, Simon was taken a back but replied almost immediately.
"The ambulance is on the way." The sound of the ambulance could be heard in the distance, growing louder with each passing moment.
"Let the human authorities take care of all of them." The king said with his brutal tone and it seemed lifeless.
As the king carefully placed the woman on the ground, the warriors exchanged worried glances. It was clear that the king was leaving her behind and the thought of abandoning their queen was unbearable. Simon looked at his brother, then back at the woman, his expression a mix of concern and confusion.
"Roman... She is our Que..."
"Gather everyone and take them back to the kingdom. And that is an order." King Roman said, causing fear spread all over. His voice was not like before, he seemed very much dead on the inside.
The king's formation as he walked away was strong and authoritative, leaving no room for doubt. He did not look back, his focus solely on the forest ahead. The warriors looked at each other, understanding that they had to follow the king's orders, but the thought of leaving their queen behind was a bitter pill to swallow.
As they watched the king disappear into the forest, the warriors couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. They had been searching for their queen for years, and now that they had finally found her, they were being forced to
leave her behind. The king's decision was not one they could question, but it was clear that it would have far-reaching consequences for their kingdom.
