“Hey girl, why are you wearing that long face, what happened you are early today, it is not yet your shift, what is going on?” Tiffany her best friend who was working at the diner with her asked the moment she walked right into the diner, she was half an hour earlier before her shift.

“I don’t know I think I just f****d up at my place off work Tiff, I don’t know but I feel like things are not good, I am wearing a long face?” She questioned oblivious and Tiffany sighed, she was not yet done with her shift but since there was no customer to serve, she decided to sit with Jasmine behind the counter

“What is going on? Talk to me, did you do something at work? And don’t worry, Miss Scarlett is not around today, she asked me to close the diner early today since it is Friday, you are lucky you are not working today, I was to call you once your shift at the restaurant was over but now that you are here, I see no need for that, so tell me what exactly is going on?”

“You know the guy, his surname is Vade, and he is part of the family that owns the restaurant I am currently working at right?”

“Yeah, you have told me about him before, is he trying to do that to you again, I told you if ever tries to lay his fingers on you again, I will break his nose, how pathetic, and did he do anything to you?’

“Yes, he was trying to, I mean he did try to and someone stopped him and now John is mad at me for that, he wanted me to just stand there and let him do what he pleases and I think I just lost my job.”

“What the f**k? Is something wrong with John’s head or maybe is he nuts, why would he do that to you, you have been working at that restaurant for almost six months now and you are telling me that he will just watch someone harass you if he fires you, I will be there myself to talk to him, he shouldn’t be doing this.”

“No you don’t have to do any of that Tiffany; I will talk to John and I am sure he will understand my situation.”

“Or maybe you should just accept this job my brother is offering you, I talked to him last week and h agreed to pay slightly above what you are getting paid at La Vade, so think about it, you don’t have to work where you are not comfortable and I don’t like the idea of someone messing with you because I can’t stand it, so tell me who is this saviour that saved you.”

“I don’t know about your brother’s job but let me first know what John has to say about my work, I just started working there like 6 months ago, I can’t lose my job just like that and you know your brother is only offering me a job because he is always after me and oh it seems like you have a customer, you go right ahead and I will be waiting right here.” She said and pointed at the empty seat that had just been occupied by a customer.

“Yes, I will get right to it and I will be right back, it seems like you are holding something back.” She winked at her and walked to the table to take the customer’s order.

A few minutes later, there were just a few customers left and the two were almost closing up the diner.

“So tell me, who is this guy that helped you or let me say saved the day for you and made you lose your job?”

“You wouldn’t believe even when I told you his name.”

“Just tell me because now I am growing curious to know who this guy is.”

“Okay just because you are insisting, I will just tell you the whole story, so I was working, I was taking my order just as usual and then this guy Vade, you know how he behaves, he tried talking to me about something but I didn’t give him the chance to intimidate me, so when I came back to take their bill, he was there all over me and `then inappropriately s*****d me and before I knew it, my knight in the shining armor was there to save the day, he punched him in the face and even threw him out of the restaurant, the famous Victor Roberts.”

“Wait, what the hell do you mean by Victor Roberts, don’t tell me he is the one who just saved your a*s because the famous Victor I know doesn’t give a single s**t about anyone but only himself, what did you do to him huh, you made a spell on him or something?” She asked with a smirk on her face.

“No not I didn’t do anything, I am just as surprised as you are and yes he was there to save me and he then walked up to the locker room to check if I was okay and then he was gone just like that.”

“I think maybe he had a soft spot for you who knows, I can’t believe he even saved you today, that is unlike him.”

“I guess I was just lucky, I have never seen him smile by the way and even early today, he didn’t, he just acted like he was doing something normal.”

“Typical Victor Roberts, we should be heading home right now, today is Friday and I was just invited to one hell of a party a few miles from my place, I can afford to miss that, I have had a long week, so come on, I will give you a ride back home and maybe you should join me, you have had a long day and maybe this might help.”

“No I don’t feel like partying tonight Tiffany, I just want to go back to my house, take a long shower and relax in my bed as I watch Netflix.” She said dismissively and Tiffany shrugged.

“Okay as you wish, I won’t push you into doing it, come on, just help me close up and we will be on our way as soon as possible.” She replied to her and just then Jasmine’s phone rang, it was Miss Scarlett, “Miss Scarlett is calling; I think I should pick this up, I will join you in a few minutes.”

“Okay, go right ahead.”

“Hey Miss Scarlett, how are you doing?”

“I am good Jasmine, I was just calling to ask if you are okay and if you can take the weekend off, and come back to work on Monday, I know you are going through a lot, so use that time to relax and maybe do something for yourself.”

“No, I want to work during the weekend, you know I need money and I can’t afford to just sit around and do nothing, I would like to even work for a few more hours.”

“Oh honey don’t worry about that, I am still paying you for the weekend, so just take the weekend off, I will see you on Monday and today is on Friday, so go out there and have some fun, don’t just sit around in the house all by yourself, go out with Tiffany.” She said and Jasmine chuckled.

“Okay Miss Scarlett, thank you so much, I will see you on Monday.” She said and the Scarlet hung up. After closing up the diner, the two walked right up to Tiffany’s car and they drove off.

Tiffany and Jasmine had been friends for a long, ever since college, but Tiffany was from a well-off family, she was just working at the diner to try and get some money for herself but her family was always making sure she had everything she needed.

“You know I still think you should consider my invite, it is going to be fun, you don’t have to be drunk at all this night, plus we are just going out to have some fun, some on Jasmine,” Tiffany said to her after she parked right in front of her apartment but Jasmine was not feeling like partying that night, she wanted to have the night for herself.

“No thank you, Tiffany, today I am not really in the mood to go partying.” She said and Tiffany shrugged her shoulders.

“Okay I won’t pressure you but I am going out to have some fun, call me if you need anything and oh tomorrow I have this thing planned just for the two of us, I will give you the details tomorrow, I love you, have a goodnight, I will see you tomorrow.”

“Okay, I love you too go out and have some fun, I will see you tomorrow, that is if you will wake up without a hangover.” She said and then planted a soft kiss on her cheeks before she got out of the car and walked up the front of her apartment, Tiffany watched until she got into the house and she then drove off to her place.

Victor on the other hand worked until it was late in the night, at around eleven; he thought about going back to his place, he wanted to just have the night for himself and didn’t want to out that night. As he drove himself through the busy street that night, he couldn’t stop thinking about what his mother and sister told him early that day, he still had not come up with a better plan and didn’t even know what to do.

“Wait, why are you still up?” He asked Raquel as he walked into his living room, she was still up watching TV.

“Waiting up for you, look at you, where have you been?”

“How is that your problem, I thought you will be long gone by the time I am coming back, what are you even doing here what happened to your room back at Mom’s place, she didn’t offer you one?”

“I was waiting for you, you know in as much as you are mad at me about earlier, I am still your sister and you are still my brother, so don’t get all worked up.”

“Yeah, whatever, I am going to my room, goodnight Raquel.” He said and walked upstairs to his room, he didn’t even wait for her response.
