For years, I looked for my mate only to find her and get rejected because she was afraid of me. She listened to the rumors and was afraid. I became king at a young age and I had to do anything and everything to protect my pack and kingdom. Many people are scared of me and call me a monster; a ruthless, heartless killer. With everything that happened with my father and the rejection of my mate, I didn’t care about the nickname of the cold, heartless King. My father’s enemies became mine and I made new ones along the way. So, I just fooled around with a few she wolves, but last night I went to Zack’s bar and I met this beautiful woman who had me captivated with every move she made. Her scent was intoxicating. No, she’s not my mate, but there is something about her that allured me and my wolf.

The second I looked into her eyes, I was shocked. For a second, I thought she was wearing contacts, but as I looked closer, I could see she had none. Her iris’ we’re actually pink. I had never seen anyone with pink eyes, yet she looked beautiful and unique. I felt like she was looking into my soul. She wasn’t afraid of me and I loved that. “Come in” I called and Zack walked in. Zack is my best friend and also my Royal Beta.

“Hey man. Are you done?” Zack asked.

“Yeah” I said, getting up and getting some Scotch for the both of us.

“The new pack member, Steven, is settled in with his mate” Zack said.

“That’s good” I said.

“I saw you last night with Yadieliz” he said, wiggling his eyebrows.

“With whom?” I asked.

“The she wolf with the pink eyes” he said. So that’s her name.

‘It’s unique, just like her’ my wolf, Bane says.

“Yeah, she was fun to hang around with. I’m also glad your brother’s mate taught us how to dance” I said, making Zack laugh nodding.

“Did you get her number?” he asked.

“No, I didn’t get the chance” I said truthfully. I wish I had gotten the chance to get her number. I guess the Moon Goddess is still punishing me for what I did to my father.

‘Your highness, Miss Vazquez has arrived’, Brock linked me.

‘Let her through. Have her drive to the castle’ I linked him.

‘Yes, your highness’ he linked back.

“The other new pack member has arrived” I said.

“Then let’s go meet our new pack member” Zack said before downing his drink. I did the same and we both went out of the castle just as a light brown and black 2023 dodge challenger SRT Demon 170 pulls up and Zack whistles.

“Wow, nice car” Zack said. Zack and I love muscle cars.

“Indeed,” I said. The driver's side door opens, and a woman steps out and walks around the car, but the moment she looks up at me, she stops. It’s her. It is the woman I was with last night. Yadieliz.

“Yadieliz?” Zack questioned, making her look at him.

“Zack? Hey, what are you doing here?” she asks.

“I’m the Royal Beta”, Zack says, making her freeze and her face pales as she looks at me. I could tell she was talking to her wolf, putting everything together. She looks at me and takes a deep breath.

“Your highness, my name is Yadieliz Vazquez. I want to thank you for accepting me into your pack and giving me the chance to become a warrior” she says, bowing her head in respect as she takes off her sunglasses. I can see the tips of her ears turning red. Cute.

“Welcome to the Royal Pack, Yadieliz. I believe you have read through the rules I have sent you?” I asked.

“Yes, your highness, I have,” she replied.

“And do you agree?” I asked. She opened her mouth to speak when her phone rang. A low growl left her lips and her pink eyes glowed. She ignored the call before looking at me.

“My apologies your highness. Yes, I agree” she replied.

“Okay, follow me to my office. Zack, can you take Yadieliz’ luggage to her room?” I asked.

“Yes, your highness” Zack said. Yadieliz followed me to my office, her delicious, intoxicating scent filling my nose. I closed the door behind me. I turned to Yadieliz, whose heart raced with what I assume was excitement. My gaze is steady, filled with the weight of leadership and the legacy of the pack.

“Step forward, Yadieliz” I commanded, my voice rich and a blend of authority and warmth. As she approaches, I continue, “You stand before your new family, a lineage forged in strength and unity. I welcome you not just as a member, but as a protector and keeper of our ways.”

“Do you pledge your loyalty to the pack and honor the laws we live by? Will you uphold the spirit of our ancestors and fight for our future?” I asked.

“I pledge my loyalty to the pack and to you, my king. I promise to defend and support my comrades, and to honor the traditions that bind us together”, Yadieliz responds with a firm and clear voice. I nod satisfied with the response. I step closer and cut my palm and so does she. We unite our palms, and she gasps as her eyes glow bright. I can feel my wolf coming forward as the new bond snaps into place. Her legs buckle and I catch her. Her canines elongate and so do her claws. She jumped back away from me and I couldn’t help but look at her. I have never seen anyone react like this while joining the pack.

“My apologies, my king” she said, bowing her head in submission. When she looks up at me, I see her canines and claws have gone back to normal.

“It’s okay. Every reacts differently”, I tell her and she nods.

‘Royal Pack, I want to introduce you to our new pack member, Yadieliz Vazquez’, I said through the Royal Pack. As my pack members welcome her through the pack link, and she thanks them before putting up a block. I can’t help but think about last night when I had her in so many different positions. ‘There’s something special about her’ Bane said.

‘Her eyes?’ I asked.

‘No, there is something more’ Bane said as he looked at her through my eyes.

“You don’t need to bow all the time. Now about last night-”

“Elijah, baby, we’re going to be late for dinner” Wanda said, barging into my office. Yadieliz looked at Wanda before looking at me and stepping back. A growl left my lips as I looked at Wanda.

“Wanda, I’m doing pack business, and you will address me as king” I said.

“It’s okay, your highness. Thank you for having me in your pack” Yadieliz said before bowing her head in respect and walking out the office.

“It seems you’re done now. How about we go to dinner now?” Wanda said, ignoring what I said just a few seconds ago.

“You go. I’m busy” I said. Wanda stomped her foot while placing her hands on her hips.

“Are you serious right now? I have waited all day to have dinner with you, and you don’t want to go with me? That’s not right” Wanda pouted.

“I’m busy Wanda. Maybe next time” I said. She growled and stomped out of my office, slamming the door behind her. I groan running my hands down my face.
