Kaaya’s Room – 4:30 AM
She lay curled on the bed, her hand protectively placed over her belly. Their baby.
Or was it?
She didn’t hear the door open.
She didn’t hear the footsteps.
But she felt him.
A darkness. A force. A storm waiting to strike.
Then a cold hand wrapped around her throat.
She gasped, her eyes snapping open.
Dev was above her. A monster in human skin.
His fingers pressed into her neck, not enough to choke, but enough to terrify.
“Who does it belong to?” His voice was deep, guttural. Not Dev. Not the man she once loved.
A devil.
Kaaya’s eyes widened. “W-what?”
Dev leaned in, his grip tightening.
“WHO THE f**k DOES IT BELONG TO?”
Tears pricked her eyes. Her heart pounded.
She struggled against his hold, but he was unmovable. Unstoppable.
