“Can we really go home?” Vee asked when the doctor came to check on Pete the same as every morning. Ten days had passed since the operation and Pete had no visible complications. His health seemed to be good. He regained some of his strength and even the stitches on his chest began healing. Since Vee and Pete’s mother remained in the hospital with him, they could skip the protective clothes and face masks shortly after the operation, when they were cleared from any infection which could threaten Pete.
“Yes. I don’t see any reason to keep him here any longer. Pete is healing very well. The tests we put him through showed a good result so he could go home. Just remember, you can’t do anything which will put pressure on your chest. Also, skip any activities which use your upper body muscles
