When Tyrone dropped her off at home, he’d noticed her crestfallen expression. And he blamed himself, he blamed himself because he knew if it wasn’t for him, their day would have been nice. Instead, he had Kelly showing up at his door for some odd reason, and a waitress slinging hot coffee.
Not exactly his intentional doing, but he was the common denominator. And it sucked.
“I’m so sorry baby.” Cleo looked at him confused, “For what?” Shrugging, Tyrone admitted, “I feel like because me you spent the day dealing with crazy. And it’s f****d up, you dealing with the envy of women I don’t even know. Women who don’t even really know me. They just ruined what I thought today was going to be.”
Cleo smiled as she shook her head, “But they didn’t, I refuse to let them.” Kissing him gently, Cleo admitted, “Besides, they think they know what I have,” Smiling, Cleo kissed him again before saying, “If only they knew the half of it. I would be at war. Besides, I’m more depressed about not waking up to you in the morning.”
Feeling his insides light up like a Christmas tree, it was just like that Cleo took the depression away. And he was right back to feeling like he was about to see Jolly Ole Saint Nick. But he didn’t need presents.
He had Cleo.
Kissing her, Tyrone let himself get lost in her. Until his phone rang and he saw it was none other than Javier Mink. His grandfather’s jeweler.
“Ugh, I got to call him back, it’s business.” Cleo pouted but then beamed at him, “Okay handsome, I’ll see you tomorrow?” Tyrone frowned as he realized something, "It's going to be lonely tonight. I kind of liked waking up with you too.” Cleo smirked as she teased, “Of course you did, little pervert.”
Laughing, Tyrone watched her get out his truck. Stopping, Cleo wanted to ask what would have happened today? If the waitress hadn’t been a b***h and dosed her with coffee, was he going to seriously, do it?
But not wanting to ask something she knew in her gut, Cleo turned and said, “Hey Ty?” Tyrone met her eyes smiling, “Yeah?” Cleo breathed out nervously, “I was going to say yes.” Tyrone’s entire face changed as he realized slowly what she was referring to.
Eyes wide, she blew him a kiss and left him sitting there blown away. Tyrone didn’t realize he was cheering and screaming until Hailey came outside and looked at him like he was crazy. Waving to her, Tyrone peeled off as he immediately called Javier Mink back.
“Ah there you are son!” He was greeted with; Tyrone usually would have been polite. But right now, he just needed to know, “Is it ready? Are you done with it?” Laughing at his eagerness, Javier teased, “Why yes I am. And judging by the sound of it, my follow up question: Are you still needing the ring? Is pointless, yes?”
Very, because Tyrone was going to marry Cleo Bryson. And while he didn’t think he’d ever be good enough for her, he’d spend the rest of his life trying if need be.
