Alex’s pov: I was about to walk away from the clinic, and Jade was seemingly ready to doze off against my chest, when she mumbled something, loud enough for me to hear. “They’re here,” she claimed, her voice weary but somewhat alert. “Who’s here, love?” I asked as I patted her back gently, trying to make sense of her dream. She straightened up with a startle, struggling against my hold. Afraid I would drop her, I tried to tell her soothingly that everything was okay.
