Chapter 6 Luci

1393 Words
Chapter 6 Grace, Graham, and Ariel have been so welcoming towards me since I arrived. They are a lovely family, and you can see the love between them. They have gone out of their way to make me feel at home here. Kenzie has been amazing as well. She has visited me every day, so I was sad when she finally had to leave. I hope she is able to visit again soon. She did make sure to introduce me to her family. I am not sure if it is baby hormones or not, but her brother is seriously hot. I never thought I was into red heads, but that man would be anyone’s type, and the Italian accent just adds to his charm. The ranch she lives on is massive, I am pretty sure they bought all the land around it to make it bigger. There are several homes on it, the biggest two being her families and the Don’s home. They have a working ranch as well. It is not just a crime syndicate compound. It has horses, cattle, sheep, and also some goats. A play area for kids and a small fully stocked medical unit. It is nothing like I thought it would be. Well, other than some big guys wandering around with guns in their belts. They offered me free medical care while I am here to that bump, and I stayed healthy. When I heard one of their nurses was out on maternity leave, I offered my help whenever they needed it. I had originally done my nursing training to help Doc at the club. I wanted to be useful as the future Prez's old lady. At least this way, I can feel like I am helping them out after everything they have done for me. No matter how much I don’t want to think about Gabe, he is always there in my head. I know at some point I will have to see him and have a conversation with him, but I am not ready. I never thought he was capable of something like this. My mind is finding it hard to reconcile the Gabe that I knew and loved, and the Gabe that would cheat on me in such a public way. I need him to explain why he did what he did, but right now, my heart is too broken for that. I need to stay physically and emotionally healthy for my child, and when I feel stronger again, I will face him. I really feel for Ariel right now though, she really wants to know about her brothers, but she doesn’t want to upset me. Although I don’t want to think about Gabe, he is on my mind anyway, so I may as well tell her all I know about them. She doesn’t even want to hear about her bio dad. She knows what he did to her mom, and that she almost wasn’t born because of it, so she will never forgive that. That fact, he hasn’t changed much throughout the years, just strengthens her resolve. Grace told me about her experience. If it wasn’t for my pops, she would have lost Ariel. She had to rest for the rest of her pregnancy because of the damage done. Then she had to get a c-section, and was told it wouldn’t be safe for her to get pregnant again. It took a long while for Graham to sweet talk her into a date. She felt broken and not good enough. He never cared about her past or the fact she couldn’t give him a child of his own. He has loved Ariel the way a father would their own blood. It makes me happy to see her so in love. After the sh.it Dagger put her through, she deserves every bit of happiness. Grace came with me to my 12-week scan. I was glad of it for the emotional support, especially with my mom being so far away right now. Grace video called my mom on her encrypted phone so she could still be a part of it. I also took pictures and a video of it. No matter how upset I am at Gabe right now, this is too important for him to miss. I will send it to him later from an untraceable email that he can not reply to. Any information on bump will be sent to him that way until I am home. Just after my scan and checks were done, I had the opportunity to make good on my offer of nursing assistance. Lorna, Kenzie’s mom, was furiously ranting in the hall. She had seemed like such a sweet woman, but Kenzie had said she had a temper, and it was best to duck quickly if her bad mood was aimed at you. “I swear to all that is holy, if Eva gets any sh.it for this Bruno won’t be the only one with a bullet in his a.ss” I hear Lorna yell, her Scottish accent more pronouncd when she is angry. “Let’s just get him checked out, and we can worry about that later, Amore Mio” I heard Santiago say in his smooth Italian voice. That accent could melt away all anger, Lorna is obviously too used to it or not affected by her charming husband. “We should leave the bullet in so every time he sits down, he knows what a pr.ick he is” she says, definitely not placated. Grace chuckles in the background, obviously used to this sweet little woman turning into a terrifying beast. “Lorna, let Bruno get treated” a firm Italian voice says. “Don’t talk to her like that. I agree” a calmer but no less deadly female voice says. “Amore, it was a lapse, and I know Carmen won’t be silly enough to flirt with a taken man again. Eva scared the sh.it out of her, and her mamma is handing her her a.ss as we speak. You can punish Bruno after we get him sorted. I promise Eva will get no blowback” says the 2nd Italian man, who I am guessing is the Don. “Can I help at all” I say poking my head out of the door. “Oh honey, how did the scan go?” Lorna asks, reverting back to the sweet lady I know. “Everything is great. Thank you again for doing all this” I reply, wondering how it can go from choas to calm so quickly. “Thats good, and if you are helping, don’t use an anaesthetic on him” Lorna says with a wink before slapping Bruno’s bloody butt cheek, making him grunt and groan in pain. Bruno is wheeled into a room, and I get started cutting his black suit pants and boxer shorts. As I clean the area, Dr Marino gets the local anaesthesia ready. “So Bruno, how did you manage to upset the ladies so badly?” Dr. Marino asks him, I think he is trying to distract him. “That silly girl was flirting with me, I didn’t even do anything” he said innocently. “Did you stop her?” I ask. “Huh” “I asked. Did you stop her?” I said again. “Well no” he replies, confused. “Well there is the answer. It is just as disrespectful to do nothing as it is to encourage it. If some man was hanging off of your wife, then I am sure you would be just as upset as she is” I tell him as I pull the bullet out of his a.ss. We finish getting him patched up, and he is given a pair or sweatpants to hide his modesty, and the doctor hands him some painkillers to take home once the anaesthetic wears off. Advice to take a week of rest before he is allowed on patrols again, and he is on his way. We one thing is for sure I don’t think I am going to get bored while I am here, and I get the bonus of some more hands-on experience. I am also thinking I may have missed a trick not shooting Gabe in the a.ss, but I am sure he has suffered anyway.
