After the race Marty give us a tour around New Haven before taking us home. Now, Lucas and I are now in my room doing our chemistry homework.” How do you feel about the race.” I questioned as I finished up balancing off my last equation. He shrugged.” It wasn’t my best but at least I won fifty bucks and his jersey.”  He answered as he pushed his cherry red framed glasses up on his nose. “Can we split the fifty?” He reached into his jeans and pulled out the fifty. He handed it to me.   “Take it and buy yourself some books.” He said. I shook my head. “Never mind...you kept it. You can use it to take Becca on a date.” His eyes widened. “W-what?” He stuttered. “I’m not blind...I can see you’re totally into her and she does hide the fact that she’s into you.” He looked down at his books.” Go over there and ask her out like...now.” He closed his books and sat up on my bed.” You sure about this? I-I mean dad won’t be home until eleven.” “It’s fine just be back before 9.” I said, smiling.” You can’t spend your whole life protecting me, Luke. At least I don’t want you too. You’ll just cramp my style.” He chuckled.” I want you to go out and enjoy life.” He takes his glasses off. “Ok. Make sure all the doors and windows are locke—“ “Ok dad,” I teased,” oh and take a shower you smelling absolutely funky.” He chuckled and smells his armpit. He the face he made almost made me fall off of the bed, laughing. - At around 4:30 he left with Becca to go to the movies. It now eight thirty. I was done with all my homework and I’m now officially beat. I turned off the tv and head to my room.  I stopped at the doorway to take the time to admire my room. It has aquamarine walls, maple hardwood floors. My canopy bed had baby blue and white striped bedding, the bed stand on a three inch high platform. There are two bookshelves fills with books to the right side of my bed, my closet and bathroom door is between the two selves. To the right was out my window seat, that’s filled with now blue cushions. My two nightstands are white with my baby blue lamps.  I turned of the light and shuffled over to the window seat. I grabbed Mr. Peterson before I climbed into bed. I went under the covers then rolled onto my side, facing the window. It was closed. I hugged Mr. Peterson as I let sleep take me away with a smile on my face. - I dreamt about that night again. I screamed at the very top of my lungs. I flinched when a something touched me. It was like ice.” Stop.” I  pleaded over and over. "Wake up."  “Just leave me alone!” I exclaimed. “You’re having a bad dream, please wake up.” I opened my eyes. I felt immobile.  I stared up at my semi moonlit ceiling. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead and sighed. I sat up. I froze. I stared at the figure sitting in the edge of my bed. I could make out a single feature but I knew for a fact it wasn’t my father nor Lucas given his ridiculous size. I tried as much as possible to hold back the scream threatening to unleash itself. Slowing reached for my lamp and I turned it on. The figure disappeared . What the hell? I rubbed my eyes then stared at the spot where the figure was. Maybe it was just my imagination? I turned the lamp off and screamed at the top of my lungs when the figure returned, sitting in the same exact spot. The figure began to reach for me. I moved away until my back was against the wall. The figure proceeded in reaching for me. I turned my face away, whimpering. The figure touched my cheek and stroked it. I swear, I nearly fainted. It’s hand was freezing cold like it was buried in snow for hours.” What do you want?” I asked. “I’ll always be there to protect you.” It said. It’s a guy. It’s voice was deep, low and velvet like. I stared at the figure. I heard footsteps marching to my room.” I’ll protect you...I promise.” He said. My door swung open and the lights were turned on. Just like that...he was gone.  “Devin! Are you ok?” Lucas asked. I was too in shock to respond. My body give out and I fainted. - I woke up to the sound of a beeping monitor. I opened my eyes. My vision was blurry. I closed my eyes for a while before opening them again. My vision was a little better but I had one massive headache. I sat up. I didn’t take me long to realize I was in the hospital. The only light the room had was the moonlight shining from the blinds. I gasped when I realized the figure standing a the foot of the bed. My heart thumped hard in my chest. The beeping got louder.” Calm down.” He whispered.” I told you already...I’m not going to hurt you.” I swallowed a lump in my throat and tried my hardest to calm down. It took a while but I manage.” What do you want from me?” I asked. He doesn’t answer. “Is your head, ok?” He asked, minutes after. “N-no.” I replied.” It hurts really bad.” Slowly, he walked over to my right and as he walked closer, he let his hand hover over my body. I got the familiar gush of cold wind. I shifted my head to try to see his face. It was to dark and he’s a giant. Well over 6 foot five or possibly seven. He reached out to me. I flinched. “I promise I would hurt you.” He said. “I don’t know that.” I cornered. He chuckled. It give me chills and a weird hint of happiness.” I guess not but...trust me.” He sard. He cupped the right side of my face. I shivered. His hand is so cold but I got a sense of comfort from it. I pressed my cheek further into his hand, savoring the feeling.” Are you ok?” I nodded. As I closed my eyes. I opened them when I felt the bed sunk. He moved his hand away and tuck a strand behind my ear.” Who are you?” I asked. “You should get some rest.” He said. “But—“ the lights turn on and boom he was gone. I sat there confused and frustrated. Was he a figment of my imagination or am I just plain crazy. I must have hit my head pretty hard. “My—Devine you’re awake.” My dad said. He rushed over my side and pulled me into his arms.” Are you ok?” I looked up at him.“ I’m fine.”
