The town boasted one of the hottest climates in Spain, and a fabulous history. It was one of the last strongholds of the retreating Moors in the fifteenth century and had been a bustling centre of the Arabic trading world in the centuries before that. Overshadowed by the Costa's for years, it was only now enjoying a revival with a burgeoning tourist industry and renowned garden produce.
