Waeland's POV
"Did you have fun today?" I asked, a bit nervous about his answer. What if he really didn't? Then I would have to stop talking to him. I do keep my word after all, but I really hope he had fun. I really like Evan.
"I did." He said and I felt a bit of tension leave my shoulders.
"So you liked our date?" I ask, looking at him.
He nodded with a small smile on his face that I found adorable, "I liked it."
"And that means that I don't have to leave you alone, right?" I say and he nods, which brings a smile to my face.
I want to kiss him, but I don't want to scare him off and overwhelm him, so I lightly kiss his forehead instead. I swear I saw him blush a bit as he smiled and looked back out towards the sun that has almost completely set now.
I'm glad he had fun today, and I'm glad he liked our date. To be honest, I think it would be a little difficult to leave him alone if he would have told me he didn't have fun today and that I had to keep my word and leave him be. Obviously, I would do what I said, but it's fun to be around him. Even if he is a little bit of an ass sometimes, but I think it suits him and makes him amusing.
My phone beeped a few times and I just ignored it, it's probably just someone from school that wants to hang out and do something stupid.
"Aren't you going to check your phone?" Evan asked, looking from me to my pocket which had my phone in it. I sighed and looked at my phone, three messages from my brother. Terrance doesn't ever text me unless it's important, so I guess I should look at it.
"Sorry, let me just check this," I say to Evan as I unlock my phone and read the messages.
Brother: Waeland, Erica has a son. His name's Evan Beck.
Brother: It's definitely the same boy that you're on a date with. Father just proposed to her and she said yes.
Brother: I'm pretty sure you know what that means. Unless you're too stupid to figure it out
I rolled my eyes at the last message, but is he serious? Does Erica have a kid? And that kid is Evan?
I guess I should head home and see if this is true. Besides, it's getting late and it's a school night.
"Hey Evan, you ready to head home? It's getting late and I don't want your father to get mad at me for bringing his child home too late on a school night." I chuckled, joking a bit. I didn't know if what my brother told me is totally true, so I'm not going to say anything to Evan. Even if it is true, I'm not the person to tell him.
Evan rolled his eyes at the last bit I said, but nodded. "Yeah, it is late, so I should be getting home."
"Alright, lets clean up here," I said and Evan nodded as we both got up and packed up the picnic that we had finished. Once we were finished we headed back to the car and I drive to his house.
Once we got there, I walked Evan up to his door.
"Thank you for today, I usually don't have a good time, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't so... Thanks." He finished, looking a little irritated and a bit shy. I laughed a little, maybe he's irritated because he thought the date would suck or something. He's so cute, I thought as I smiled at him.
"No need to thank me, I get to continue to keep hanging out with you, I should be the thanking you," I told him and he looked at me with those beautiful brown eyes of his. My eyes trailed down to his soft, pink lips as he slowly, and a bit hesitantly, placed a small, chaste kiss on my lips.
"Good night, Waeland." He said as he disappeared inside of his house.
Jeez, he is so innocent and adorable. Even if he's glaring over half of the time, he's still the cutest thing I've ever seen.
I sighed softly as I made my way back to my car, I wonder if he'll still want to go on dates with me and kiss me in the future if we really become stepbrothers. And does this mean we're dating now, or just a one-time thing for him? I'll have to talk to him about that later. I don't want to push him too far yet though. He's just starting to get comfortable with me.
I drove home thinking about Evan and what my brother said to me.
I can believe that my father and Erica, my father's girlfriend, just got engaged. But it's hard for me to believe that Evan is Erica's son, for one, they look nothing alike. If he really is her son though, that means he's going to be my stepbrother, right? And how come Erica never mentioned Evan before? Also, Evan never mentioned his mother before. Paul did get upset at the mention of her though...
I guess I'll find out whenever I get home.
When I walked into the house, I was welcomed by Sedrick, our butler.
"Welcome home, sir." He said as he politely bowed his head.
"Hey, Sedrick, remember I asked you to not be so formal with me? Just call me Waeland," I reminded him. I've told him to just call me Waeland several times, but he always calls me 'sir' or 'master'.
"Sorry, sir, I will remember that," Sedrick said and I sighed softly.
"Anyways, do you know where Erica is?" I ask, usually, he knows where just about anyone in this house is, so it'll save me the time of looking around.
"Of course, Miss Beck is in the lounge area on the first floor," Sedrick told me, and I patted his shoulder.
"Thanks," I said as I went to the living room where Sedrick said Erica was. When I walked into the room, Erica, my father, Terrance, and his wife were all spread out between the black love seat and a similar-looking couch. They all turned their heads towards me as I made my way over to them and they all fell silent from their current conversation. For some reason, they always do that. As soon as the little kid enters the room the big adult talk dies down then they explain what they were talking about in "my level". Even though I'm practically an adult.
"Waeland, come sit," Erica said with a smile as she scooted over to make more room for me. I smiled thankfully at her and sat down.
I like Erica, she's nice. I've never met my real mother and I never will, so I can't really compare mothers, but I wouldn't mind of Erica becomes my mom. In fact, it'd be kind of fun to have a mom. Even if she's not my biological mother. Honestly, she's the first out of all my dad's girlfriends that I've ever liked.
"We have big news, your father and I are engaged!" She exclaimed excitedly.
"That's right, and I would say I'd like you to welcome her into the family, but you've already done that since she became my girlfriend." My father said as he wrapped an arm around Erica's shoulders and I smiled at them.
"I'm happy for you guys, I'm glad you two are getting married, you guys seem perfect for each other," I say and they both smile back. I swear the only time I see my father smile is whenever he's in Erica's presence.
"We also have something else to tell you Waeland. I'm sorry for keeping it a secret from you and your brother for so long, but Stephan and I have agreed it's time to tell you two. Though, Terrance already knows. The smarty-pants figured it out on his own." Erica started and my father's expression changed to more of a serious one, but not too serious. I bet they're about to tell me about what Terrance already told me.
"I have a son. His name is Evan. I never told you about him because we aren't exactly on speaking terms. After I left him and his father, my ex-husband became a mess and Evan blamed it all on me. So you see, Evan doesn't like me and since he's old enough to make his own choices, he hasn't spoken to me in the past two years. So I didn't think it was necessary to tell you two about him. I'm sorry." She finished, looking a little sad.
"It's fine, Erica, really. I understand why you didn't say anything." I said with a smile, though, inside I was more than a little shaken. If my father finds out, will he forbid me from trying to date Evan? I mean, is that incest if we're stepbrothers?
Obviously, my father can't forbid me from seeing Evan, he's going to be my brother and he's Erica's son. But I want to be more than just friends with Evan. I want to have more dates like we did today together. I just hope my brother doesn't tell my father that Evan and I went on a date today. I just told him that I was taking friends to the park, not a date. Unless my brother already has said something... But it doesn't seem like it so I'm going with that he hasn't yet.
"Thank you for being so understanding Waeland, you too Terrance. You two are wonderful kids." Erica said with a smile and my father nodded at her.
Well, that was better than expected. I wonder how Evan will react when he finds out. If he does anyway.
