Evan's POV
"Shut up..." I grumbled, irritated as Wealand kept laughing.
"I never thought you'd be the type of guy who screamed like a girl. And your face was priceless! You should have seen it, you would have laughed, too." He said as he chuckled and looked at me.
"I wouldn't have laughed." I crossed my arms and stomped off.
Yes, I'm acting like a two-year-old, but I don't care. He's annoying me.
"Aww, hey, don't act like that. I was just playing with you." Waeland whined as he chased after me.
He caught up quickly and grabbed my hand. I almost jerked my hand out of his immediately but decided against it once I felt him give mine a small squeeze. Looking up at him, I saw a giant grin on his face.
Wasn't he just whining two seconds ago?
"Let's ride something less intimidating. Yeah?" Waeland asked as he scanned around the park.
"How about no rides. At all. Ever again." I've only been on one ride, and needless to say. I hated it. It made my stomach churn and I am pretty sure one of these times, the thing could collapse or fly off the rail.
"Why not? Not all of them are that fast or tall." He said and looked at me.
"Because. They're scary and I don't like them." I responded.
"Fine, how about we get something to snack on while we look around for something you want to do?" He suggested, looking at me. I swear his eyes were sparkling. Probably just the sunlight.
"Alright. I'll agree to that." I said. He wasn't being unreasonable and I guess I am being kind of boring since I refuse to ride any rides at an amusement park. And he did reserve this whole place because I don't like being around a lot of people... Which I'm assuming costs his family a lot of money... I guess I'll ride another ride. Just not yet.
After ordering some snacks and drinks, Waeland took me on a tour through the park. He really knows this place like the back of his hand. I guess that's expected since he owns the place, but still. He must come here a lot. I wonder how often he's here.
"Are you listening?" Waeland asked me, waving his hand in front of my face.
Oh, I must not have been paying attention. "Um, no, sorry. What were you saying?"
"Nothing, it's not important." He told me. Hmm, now I really am curious as to what he said. "Anyways, we have a small water park here, too if you would like to try that out."
"I didn't bring any swimming trunks." Honestly, I don't even think I own a single pair of swimming trunks. I don't ever swim.
"Who needs swimming trunks? You have boxers on. Don't you?" He asked me.
Oh no. I am not getting in my boxers in front of this guy. Or anyone for that matter.
"Yes, but that doesn't mean I'm swimming in them," I said.
"Fine, then I'll swim by myself," Waeland said as he pulled me to another part of the park.
I started to imagine Waeland in his boxers, swimming. I could see it clearly since I've already seen him in them whenever he slept over at my house... Ugh, this guy really has a spell on me. I don't like it.
As we entered the water park, Waeland began stripping his clothes off. I looked away as I felt a faint heat rise up in my cheeks and to my ears.
"No need to be bashful, Evan. You've seen me naked before." He chuckled.
"I have not seen you naked before," I said and crossed my arms. It's true. I haven't, I've only seen him in his boxers.
"Suit yourself. You're missing out on all this deliciousness in front of you." Waeland said with a smirk in his voice that sent shivers down my spine.
Being the smart ass I am, I looked around, "What? Really? Where? I don't see anything delicious. Just an annoying sack of flesh... And muscle..." I couldn't help but add that last bit as I scanned his body up and down.
Maybe that thing girls say about the hot guys being gay is true.
That made Waeland chuckle as he walked closer to me. "C'mon Evan. Take your clothes off before I do it for you."
"No." I quickly covered my body and slowly backed away from him before darting off in the opposite direction of him.
Hey, Waeland may be a jock, but that doesn't mean I can't outrun him. I'm not that scrawny or weak.
I didn't look back as I climbed up a jungle gym that resided over a small fountain.
Is that safe? Guess that doesn't matter right now.
I looked at an out-of-breath Waeland, bent over, clearly out of breath.
"You run fast... For someone... Who doesn't play sports..." He said between pants.
"You run slow for a football player." I retort, looking down at him. He looked up at me with a playful smile. That caused me to tilt my head in confusion. I just ran away from him and insulted him. Why is he smiling?
"You're trapped, cutie." He says as he begins to climb up towards me like a lion stalking up to its prey. "If you try to climb down I'll just jump on you and catch you. If you drop straight down you'll fall into the fountain and get wet."
I raised a brow at him, "Who said I wasn't willing to get wet?" And with that, I dropped straight down into the fountain and quickly got up and ran with a smug look on my face. Well, until I ran into a wall and fell backward. "Ouch.." I looked up to see a different red-head in front of me.
Oh. So it wasn't a wall.
"You're running around like a child. You didn't even look where you were going." The person in front of me said, frowning in disapproval.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know a wall would pop up in front of me like it did." I say and dust myself off as I stand.
"Waeland, keep your pup on a leash. Would you?" The man said.
Woah. Pup? First off, I am no dog, second, I am not Waeland's.
"Oh shut up, Terrence. You're so rude to people." The familiar voice I've grown to kind of like said as he wrapped his wet, strong arm around my shoulders.
The man rolled his eyes and turned and walked away, speaking as he left. "That's what you call a date? Seems quite boring to me. Especially if your puppy keeps running from you."
... Again with calling me a dog.
"We're just playing, shut up." Waeland rolled his eyes as he led me further away from the man.
"Who was that?" I asked, curious. They look a lot alike. I wouldn't be surprised if they're brothers.
"My brother." He said. Yup. Guessed it.
"Why'd he keep calling me a puppy?"
"Let's not focus on him. We're supposed to be on a date, aren't we? We should focus on us." Waeland suggested and suddenly I felt my body being lifted up off of the ground.
"Huh? Wha-" Before I could finish my question, he threw me the deep of the pool.
That little... He is so going to die. I swam to the top of the water and looked around for him, but I couldn't find him. Where'd he go?
"Waeland?" I swam to the edge of the pool to get a better view, but still no sight of him. He can swim. Right?
A small part of me began to panic, but the rest of me was thinking that this is just a prank. Which it probably is knowing him.
"If you don't come out in three seconds. I'm officially saying I didn't like this date and you'll never be able to talk to me again." I said and not soon after I saw his head pop up from the water.
"So does that mean you like it now?" He asked.
"Well... I never said that..." I said and climbed out of the pool. Great. My clothes are super heavy now.
Sighing I decided to take off my shirt. And I regretted it not long after I heard Waeland let out a long whistle.
"Damn, that was some sexy action there, Evan. You can be a professional stripper. But only for me of course."
"Yeah, only in your dreams," I said as I wrung out my shirt.
"You know it, cutie," Waeland said with a wink and he climbed out of the pool. "Hey, since you're all wet now. Why don't we go down some slides? It'll be fun."
"Are the slides like the rides..?" I asked cautiously. I really don't like roller coasters.
"Nah, it's not near as wild as the ride we rode earlier." He said reassuringly.
"Okay... But if it is the same as that roller coaster I'm going to punch you." That only got me a chuckle from him as he led me to one of the many slides in the park.
Once we got to the top I realized how high it actually is. "You go first," I suggested to Waeland as I backed away a bit from the steep tube with running water inside of it.
"Nope. We're going together!" Waeland said and before I could fight back, he already had me in his arms as we started down the slide.
I screamed, (a manly scream of course), as we went down the tube at a very fast speed. Waeland only laughed as we reached the pool of water at the bottom with a big splash.
He finally let go of me as we both swam to the surface to get a breath of air. Waeland made it out of the pool before I did, but I was out not much longer after him.
"Well, I may be a slower runner than you, but at least I'm a stronger swimmer." He said with a chuckle as he ran his fingers through his mess of red, wet hair on his head.
"But football involves running. Not swimming." I say, looking at him, unable to look away.
"What does football have to do with beating you at something?" He asked, smirking.
I just shrugged, "I suppose you have a point."
"You suppose?"
"Yes."
"Alrighty then... Hey! You didn't complain about the slide! Does that mean you liked it better than the roller coaster?" Waeland said as his eyes lit up like fireworks on the fourth of July.
"It wasn't as bad..." I mumbled, kind of defeated that I liked the slide.
"So would you go on it again?"
"Yeah, but is there a slide that isn't as tall?" I asked, I really didn't like how high up it was.
"You scared of heights?" Waeland asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No. Just not too fond of them," I replied.
"Hmm... Okay, yeah there is if you want to go on that one instead." He suggested and I nodded.
After a few more rides down the slides, we somehow ended up dancing in the fountain together.
I have to admit, I'm actually having some fun. I smiled and even laughed a little as Waeland tripped in the middle of his little dance and fell into the water. He just glared up at me and pulled me down with him.
Now it was my turn to glare. Just because he fell doesn't mean he has to drag me down with him.
I didn't realize how close our faces were until he pressed his lips against mine.
Maybe it's because we're drenched in water, but I swear his lips are way softer than before. And colder, too.
Slowly I closed my eyes as I kissed him back.
As much as I find him annoying and irritating, I think I might actually like him. Especially when he kisses me. I like the way his lips feel against mine.
I was taken out of my train of thought whenever I felt the loss of his lips. Opening my eyes, I looked into his bright green ones.
"We should probably get some dry clothes on." He said, looking at me.
I nodded in agreement and stood up. "I didn't bring any extra clothes though. I didn't expect to do anything like this."
"Don't worry, I did so I brought both of us an extra spare of clothes." Waeland stood and grabbed my hand. "C'mon let's go change."
We showered and got dressed in the clothes that Waeland brought. His clothes were only a little big on me since he was taller than me, but they were dry and clean so I couldn't complain. I also liked the smell of him on me. That sounds so weird... Aw well.
It was quiet again, but I didn't really know what to say. And it seemed like neither did he.
He got in the car and so did I. We buckled and pulled out of the parking lot.
"Thank you... For today." I said finally, wanting to say something.
Waeland smiled, "Don't thank me yet, the day's not over."
"We're going somewhere else? Where?" I asked, curious. I thought he was just going to take me home after this.
"It's a surprise." He responded and I swear his smile widened.
Now I'm even more curious.
I watched out the window as green trees and grass flew by us. I knew it. My dad and he are planning on killing me and dumping me in the middle of nowhere.
Turning my head towards Waeland, I eyed him suspiciously and scooted back up against the door of the car to get some more space between us.
Waeland must have noticed my behavior even as he was driving because he chuckled. "I'm not going to do anything bad, Evan. I just want to show you something. Relax."
"Hmm..." I narrowed my eyes and moved back to my original position I was sitting in before a scooched away, still a little suspicious of his intentions.
I watched him as he pulled into a small trail, but big enough to fit the car. He drove up a small hill and stopped halfway and parked.
Unbuckling we both got out. Waeland led me further up the hill where a picnic blanket and basket were sitting.
"Hungry?" He asked as he sat down.
"A little," I said and sat down beside him. Waeland smiled and offered me a sandwich. I took it with a small smile as a thank you to him.
We both ate for a few moments before either of us spoke again.
"So, why'd you take me here?" I asked, looking at him.
"To show you that," he said and pointed to the horizon below us that held the most beautiful sunset I've seen in a while.
The once blue sky seemed to have melted into the warm colors of the sun as it slowly started to leave so the moon could come out. The world seemed to have become quiet as we watched the sunset.
I remembered how much I used to love watching the sunset with my family. My mom, my dad, and I. All together as a family.
Something warm touched my hand and I recognized it as Waeland's. Looking over at him I saw him already looking at me with a smile on his face.
"Did you have fun today?" He asked.
"I did."
"So you liked our date?"
I nodded, "I liked it."
"And that means that I don't have to leave you alone, right?"
Again, I nodded, looking at him. Waeland smiled even brighter and kissed my forehead. I expected him to kiss my lips, but I still liked it. It still made me feel warm and a bit fuzzy inside.
