Why did I feel so lightheaded? As I stepped out of the car, I stumbled a bit as dizziness came over me.
"Emma?" I heard a voice say, but I couldn't reply. My heart pounded against my chest as I tried to blink to see if that would work. But it didn't. Lyra howled a pitiful howl which I couldn't understand. Her distress was overwhelming and I could also sense her fear.
"Emma!" This time I noticed that it was Alpha Callan who was calling me.
But before I could say anything, my vision grew dark and I lost consciousness right away.
When I came to, I realized that I was at the pack hospital. Alpha Callan was pacing the room as if he was worried that something terrible was happening to me. "Alpha Callan, what happened?" I asked, my voice sounding a bit hoarse.
