[Jade]
I stared at his eyes transfixed, he had yellow eyes, what did that mean, was he a wolf or a panther or a witch.
The only witch I'd met with yellow eyes was mother yellow and her kind was just as rare as green eyed witches.
He closed his eyes for a brief second and when he opened them back they were his natural blue color.
I stepped back from him immediately and I straightened myself, it was not like me to feel so drawn to another man other than Mason, I wondered why his yellow eyes seemed to pull me in.
"Who are you?" I asked immediately and he stared at me like I had lost my mind.
"A little rude." He chuckled and I almost sighed because of his smooth British accent. "Shoui you say sorry for running into me and then thank you for saving you from falling."
I stared at him but I knew he was right so I conceded.
"Fine." I huffed. "Sorry and thank you." I said and turned away from him.
"Wait." I heard him call out and I turned back to him.
"You look familiar." He said and began to tap his temple until his eye shone and he got his light bulb moment. "Yes, I've gotten it, you were the woman who was staring at me weirdly at the restaurant.
"No, I was not." I countered him immediately, my cheeks getting flushed as my anger level rose.
"Fine, but you do remember me, don't you?" He asked and I rolled my eyes at him.
"Pardon me, let's start over, shall we?" He asked and I just went along with him.
"I'm Von Helsing, nice to meet you." He said, stretching his hand to me.
"I'm Jade and it has not been a pleasure to meet you." I snapped at him, ignoring his outstretched hand.
He chuckled before withdrawing his hand.
"Okay Jade." He said, testing the name on his tongue.
"Von?"
"What are you doing here, are you a student, perhaps?" He asked.
"No, I'm here to see a friend." I told him and at that time, I spotted Zara.
"I see her, I have to go, bye." I told him hurriedly and went to meet her.
"Hey, where were you? I've been searching for you." I asked, coming up to her.
"Sorry, I got held up." She explained.
"Okay."
Just like yesterday, she had no piercings but today she was dressed in shorts and a crop hoodie, she resembled the old Zara a bit today.
I was dressed in a crop top and some jeans and I had a leather jacket on.
"Who was that guy you were talking to?" She asked because he had his back to her and she couldn't have seen him.
"No one, I mistakenly hit him while I was searching for you." I said.
"Oh, okay."
"Yeah, he said his name was Von something, do you know him?" I asked her.
"Von Helsing?" She asked and I nodded.
"He's not normal, what is he?" I asked her.
"Nobody knows, he's extremely wealthy and handsome and all the girls want to get with him." She said,
"Eeew." I said almost immediately.
"Go and tell that to all those college girls that flock around him." She laughed. "The man is gorgeous though, you can't deny it."
I wasn't going to admit it but I knew it and she wasn't wrong, the man was really attractive looking, especially with his yellow eyes.
We soon forgot about the man and then we started our day.
The tour of NYU was so amazing, I literally started dreaming about my college future here.
The school life was amazing, beautiful classes and environment, there was a lot of excitement and bubbling in the campus.
After a while Zara and I decided to go eat in a cafe, we had the famous New York bagel and the bagel was with every hype, it was so good, I had to buy some to take away so that I could share them with Mason, Hugo was on a healthy eating diet so I didn't get one for him because I didn't want to derail him from his path.
After the bagels, we decided to go and visit Debra. I hoped she would be happy to see me and not bear any ill feelings towards me.
"Mom, look who's here." Zara shouted immediately as we entered the tattoo parlor.
There were a lot of people just like Zara had said and this parlor looked even bigger than if expected, her mother was definitely making a way for herself.
She had a bunch of other tattoo artists working with her but when we came in, she was working on a customer.
She looked up from the person that was getting tattooed and her eyes lit up when she saw me.
Now, that was a reaction you can't fake.
"Jade, oh my dear, you look so good." She gushed and pulled me into her embrace.
"Debra." I smiled and hugged her back.
"Oh girl, it's been so long, how're you doing?" She asked, putting an arm around my shoulders.
She led me to the customer she was working on and she apologized to him before continuing his tattoo.
We talked for a while and caught up, when she was done with her clients, she took us into her office and opened up a bottle of champagne.
"Are you finally ready to get your first tattoo?" She asked, handing a glass of champagne over to me.
I contemplated it for a while but then I shook my head, it was something really random and I hadn't even evr discussed it with my mate before and I already knew my mother's stand on tattoos, she did not want me getting some.
"Not yet, but when I am, I promise to get it done here." I told her.
"You still remember that?" She said to me and I smiled at her before responding.
"I never forgot."
"Oh dear, it feels so nice to finally see the two of you reunite, I'm truly sorry for everything that happened in the past." She begged.
"Yeah, you said it, it's in the past, let's leave it there." I responded smiling at them both.
We kept Debra company for a while before we decided to go out, I had just one day left to spend in New York before we had to return back to the pack.
I was grateful that I'd reconnected and she asked me to call her before we left so that she could see us off to the airport.
Hugo came to pick me up and I said goodbye to Zara.
I didn't feel like going straight home so I asked Hugo to drive me to the beach, I asked him to wait in the car as I got down and went towards the shore.
The people had significantly reduced and it was more quiet now, I was happy about that and I sat on the shore watching the water movements.
"Thought you looked familiar." I looked up and frowned when I noticed who it was.
"You again, are you stalking me?" I asked but he just chuckled, he never seemed to be offended by anything I said at all.
"No, I would need to be a psycho to do that, and I'm not one." He said and without asking for permission, he took a seat beside me.
"What are you doing?" I asked in shock.
"Taking a seat." He told me.
I decided he wasn't worth getting worked up over so I just decided to ignore him.
"I like coming here, you know." He said and I sighed.
"Yeah, it's calm here." I said almost automatically.
"Yes, there's something about the crashing waves and raging sea that is so calming, it's like a feeling of tranquility amidst chaos." He said and I just nodded.
I understood exactly what he meant.
"You're not from around here, are you?" He asked me and I shook my head no.
"I live in Florida, just came here to see an old friend." I told him.
"Hmm, the blonde I saw you talking with?" He asked.
"Yes." I replied and we turned silent again.
"You don't wish to leave." He said after a while and I chuckled.
"I should though, I have a lot of responsibilities to fulfill." I said.
"What about your responsibility to yourself?" He asked. "Or do you just only care about others and not yourself?"
"I don't know." I muttered before standing up abruptly, I dusted the sand off my back and kept staring at the water.
"I hope you decide to think about yourself one day." He said and I nodded.
"I know that you're different." I told him and he smiled.
"I sensed that you're different too." He told me.
"What are you?" I asked him, now curious to know.
"I don't need to tell you, you can find out if you like." He told me.
"How?" I asked him and he just smiled at me.
He got to his feet, dusted the sand on his clothes and he leaned down to whisper into my ears since he was taller than me.
"You're a witch." His voice came as a harsh whisper. "Figure it out." He said and then moved away from me.
I thought deeply but nothing came to mind, he wasn't a wolf, I would sense that immediately, he also wasn't a witch because I couldn't even sense him, he did not strike me as a panther.
When I could think of nothing more, I grabbed his hand and went into his mind.
I saw a vision of a man, it was him and he was washing in a lake, then he got out, the skies turned dark and the grasses under his feet began to wither as he walked past.
Two sets of wings came out of his back, his hand elongated into claws and his two canines were elongated.
His body color changed to a mixture of black and red and his yellow eyes shone in the dark.
Even animals that were in his part died and rotted as he walked past them.
I snatched my hand away from him because I could not bear to see such scenes and I looked at him with an unknown expression.
He was a really strange creature, I had never seen anything like him before.
"I saw that." I told him. "What are you?" I asked.
"I'm a demon." He leaned closer and whispered in my ear.
