25. The Conjuring.

[Jade] The thing about dark magic is that though it might be insanely powerful, there are also huge gaping loopholes to it. Especially to magic as complex as possession. Now, possession is the act of dominating or taking control of somebody's normal consciousness and replacing it with another's. Excuse my nerdiness, in simple terms, possession means taking control of someone's body. Possession can happen one of two ways, the first is to passively lure the person's soul out of their body so that you can take control for as long as you want or just cast a spell or give the person a potion that will chase their souls out of their body and give yours entrance. Now where the loophole comes into play is the fact that after possessing and leaving a body, your soul could still be called back to that body without much effort and there's no way you could refuse to heed the call. The call can happen in one of two ways, first by a spell cast with your original name or by saying or chanting a phrase that reminds the owner of the body of you or your possession. *** Now when Mason called us down to the dungeon, what we saw shocked us, Mason had used the possession loophole and he had called the possessor back to the body. I remembered all this from one of my lessons with Jee. "That's impossible!" I exclaimed when I saw the girl in the cell. Her eyes were totally black and she was levitating or sitting on air. "What have you done?" Zilla demanded staring at the girl in shock while Zefa just shook her head. "I read something about this in a book, I was able to lure the possessor back to the body." He announced. "You have no idea what treachery you have committed." Zefa shook her head sadly. "What do you mean?" I challenged them." This is a good thing right, we can keep her captured and find out everything we need to know." "No you don't get it, you've opened a gateway to mind control here, she or whoever that is will now be able to access the girl's mind at will and who knows if she will be able to jump into another's consciousness." She explained. Well, that's another thing about dark magic, there are loopholes inside loopholes. "You've just made things another type of worse," Zilla said. "Well, what can we do, there must be a way to salvage the situation." Before Mason finished talking, Zilla had dug into her cloak for a bracelet and she was attaching it to the girl's wrist. The girl shrieked and tried to fight her off but she successfully got it done, immediately she wore the bracelet, the girl fell to the floor. "Hopefully the bracelet will keep her powers in check and she will not be able to escape or jump into another's consciousness," Zilla explained her actions. "Have you asked her any questions?" I asked Mason. "Yes, several but she doesn't speak English and that's why I called you guys down here, to speak to her." He replied. "Are you from the cult?" I asked her in Crypetian. "A pureblood from a mixed bloodline, I wonder how that is possible, anyway, mother will enjoy bathing in your blood." The girl said and began to laugh evilly. Her threats scared me a bit and I moved back a little. "What did she say?" Mason asked me. "She threatened to bathe in her blood," Zefa told Mason and he clenched his Jaw. "If you weren't possessing an innocent person, I would bathe in your blood." He told her menacingly. She just kept on laughing ignoring his threats. "What does the cult want with the wolf pack?" Zilla asked the girl. "I smell Blackners, ah… you never know when not to stick your nose in, I cannot begin to imagine what mother has planned in store for you little traitors." She sneered at her. "She's not going to tell us anything, we should leave her and please restrict this place from access, she can be very persuasive and if she manages to tempt her way out of her, she will be almost unstoppable," Zilla told us. "What should we do then?" Mason pulled on his thick dark hair in frustration. "We'll continue looking for a cure for the green fever, you need to relax and support your pack, there's nothing else much you can do," Zefa said. Mason nodded his head but I could see the helplessness in his eyes, he hated the fact that he couldn't do anything. He left us in the dungeon and I heard him give very strict instructions to the guards at the other side not to let anyone in beside us. "Are we just going to let her stay quiet?" I asked them after Mason left. "There's not much else we can do," Zefa said. "We can press her to get the information out, I know a really strong spell that will drain all her power from her, if we threaten her with that, maybe she will budge," I argued. "That is a very restrictive spell and I doubt she knows anything, she can't tell us anything and that's why she's so calm," Zefa said. "Why?" I asked in confusion. "That's how the cult works, the moment she breaks and tries to start talking, she will die before she gets any word out, her eyes will just turn white and glaze over then she will vomit blood and die," Zilla explained. "Just like the gamma that died." I froze. "Exactly, only worse because the spirit that possessed her will return to its body but the innocent girl will die." She said, "That's why we need to concentrate on getting the cure and soon, the only way to do this requires a sacrifice and it is going to be bloody." . . [Unknown] "Wow mother, you haven't danced in ages, it's good to see you dancing happily again," Dinai commented on entering the throne room. I was twirling around in my huge black dress after finding out the torment my daughter had unleashed on the wolves. They deserved every little bit of it and she'd made me proud. I was happy and the news I had just gotten was enough to provide me with vitality throughout the day. "Oh my girl, I've heard of your exploits." I rushed down the steps of the throne platform and pulled her into a big hug. I didn't normally do this, especially with people around but this was a special occasion, she had achieved a feat that made me happy to the point where I was dancing in front of my lowly subjects. "Yes, mother, I told you I would surprise you and I'm glad you like the surprise." She smirked. "Of course, you're my evil twin, you know what I like, the green fever, so smart if you to have thought of that," I told her. "Oh mother, not just any green fever, the resistant kind, they'll never find a cure for it." She told me and my laughter echoed throughout the room. "That's just brilliant, Dinai, soon we'll have our revenge and be rid of those vermin in no time." "Will this revenge bring the catharsis you desire?" She asked me and I turned away from her. The death of my child left a hole in my heart, a hole no amount of blood or revenge could fill but it didn't mean that I wouldn't feel better exacting my revenge. "We're not finished yet." I turned back to her. "You've only managed to infect half of the population, don't forget that the remainder of the pack still stands, if they decide to burn all the infected and start again, then we would be at loss." I glared at her. "When will it stop?" She asked me. "When will it be enough, do I need to kill a hundred, a thousand or a million, when will you—" "Until they are extinct, and don't you dare take that tone with me because I won't take it." "Mother, I—" "No, don't mother me, they took my child away from me, and now nothing of his exists anymore, not even his soul, I won't rest until every last one of them is dust, I will take from them what they've taken from me." "Okay, mother." She agreed with me. "Fine, now tell me what is your next plan, and tell me what the h*ll that therapist is doing?" I asked her. If I played my cards right then I would end up with an ace but then if there was even a slight mistake, then my house of cards would be toppled down like a stack of dominos. I wasn't really doing this because of my son but nobody needn't know that now. It was power, the death of my son just gave me an excuse to pursue that power. The cult would never have supported me, especially my daughter Dinai if they knew what I was really up to. Dinai had a lot of potentials but she was too weak at heart, just like her father and that was why I carved his heart out, of course only after framing him for betraying the cult when he didn't do it. He was a weak link and I took him out the only way I could. I couldn't take Dinai out because she was my daughter and contrary to what people think, I do have a heart, the only way I keep her in check is by playing on her emotions and it is such a good thing that she loves pleasing me. "Aslea is playing the long game, I think we should leave her there. I also met with Mania at the pack. That body she is in does her beauty no good but she hasn't been suspected at all." Dinai said. "Great then, we just have to wait for the right time to strike." I smiled at her. "Okay, mother, if that is all, I would like to—"  She stopped talking all of a sudden, her eyes turned white and her body dropped slowly to the floor. "What is it?" Some of the guards rushed to her and picked her up. "Her soul has been called out of her body."
