22. Panic Switch.

[Jade] I smiled when I saw Jayden and Liya sneaking out of their own wedding reception. I was dancing with Mason and I totally understood their need to be alone right now. After our mating ceremony, Mason and I had gone to a really quiet place in the woods and we had had the time of our lives. I couldn't leave the party yet so Mason and I kept dancing and entertaining the guests. Soon it was nightfall and it was time to say goodbye to the couples. "Can you believe them, they snuck out of their own wedding reception and Liya's also blocked off any mind link, even the Alpha's," Sirius complained. "Oh, I'm sure they're just having a really good time together." I smiled and Sirius cringed. "Don't remind me, that brother of yours already knocked my niece up." He muttered dryly. "What!" I was surprised. "Knocked her up, Liya is pregnant? I didn't know that." I said the last part a little too loudly, Mason and my mom heard and they rushed to my side immediately. "What did you just say?" They asked in unison. "I can't believe they haven't told anyone." Sirius shook his head. "Of course, that's why her scent has been a bit different." Mason smiled and wrapped his hand around my waist. "I'm going to be a grandmother." My mother smiled and pulled a frowning Sirius closer to her. "You're going to be a grand-uncle!" She exclaimed happily. "Oh goody," Sirius said sarcastically and she smacked him on the chest. "Fine, fine, I'm happy but you know I will be even happier to become a father." He said and this time it was my turn to cringe. Our whole family was connected, how did I not realize that my mother might give Jay and me a half sibling too. "We would also love to be parents soon," Mason said and I smiled at him. I wasn't ready to be a mother so I was on the pills but I was not ready to tell him that and he wasn't aware that I was using the pills. I figured when I was ready I would just stop using them and get pregnant, then he wouldn't have to find out about anything. I knew he really wanted to have a child and I didn't want him to feel sad that I was preventing that from happening. "You know what, let me go and find them, they need to announce this news themselves," I said and dashed away from there before anyone could comment. "Is she okay?" I heard someone ask. "I think she's just stressed, she probably has been skipping therapy." Another person said and I was sure that it was my mother.  *** I needed to take a breather and going off to find Jay and Liya gave me a perfect excuse, even though I knew that I might be grossed out if I found them getting intimate. I took off to the woods following the same part that I'd seen the couple take. "My goodness, Luna, you scared me." Nana's niece said. Honestly, I couldn't even remember her name again. "What are you doing here?" I asked her. "I was just wandering around, the lake is beautiful, I've been writing some poems and chapters for a book I'm working on." She said and I sighed. There was nothing wrong with what she had just said. "You're here from college?" I asked her, I figured if I spent some time with her I would get over this ill feeling I had whenever she was around. "Yes, NYU." Immediately she said that my ears pricked up, I wanted to go to NYU. "Wow, that's amazing, what are you studying?" I asked her. "Um.. creative writing." She said and my mouth dropped open. The green monster also began to rear his head. She was basically living my dream life, kind of, she got into the university of my dreams, she was studying the course of my dreams and who knows if she would get the job of my dreams too. "That's… that's… remarkable." I swallowed my saliva as I spoke. "Wow, that's the first time someone has thought of writing as remarkable." She said excitedly. "I have a lot of these ideas and the lake is a very great place to write, it's so serene and the inspiration just flows…" "What are your plans?" I blurted out interrupting her. "I mean how long are you staying here?" "Oh, um… I figured since I just graduated and I didn't have anywhere else to go I would stick around here with Nana, she's my only family member left alive… I plan to complete my novel and then send it for publishing." She spoke very proudly. "Um, that's great, I want you to know that you're welcome here, I have to get going," I told her and left. I was Luna and the love of my life was by my side, that was all I needed, I didn't need to go to college, it didn't matter if I got into NYU or not, the most important thing was that I was happy with my life here and my loved ones surrounding me. I was going to become an aunt. Liya was pregnant. With a smile on my face, I dismissed those wayward thoughts and continued to go in search of the happy couple. I frowned when I got to the lake, it was empty, I started shouting out for them and when they didn't answer I started to panic. "What's taking so long?" Mason asked in mind link. "I can't find them, I can't find them," I replied back panicking. "Where are you, come back to the party immediately, Sirius and I will end the reception and then go in search of them." He said. . . [Mason] This day couldn't have gotten any better, I just found out that Liya was pregnant and I couldn't have been happier. Most of the pups born in the pack belonged to the parents of lower classes like the Omegas, the Deltas, and the Gammas and since they did not live in the main pack house which was the mansion, there were seldomly any pups seen running around. I was happy that Liya was expecting because it would mean that that would change, I also hoped Jade would get pregnant soon too do that we could give Liya's child a playmate and I also hoped aunty Clarice would have a child for Sirius too because, why not, the more the merrier. I felt like Jade was not willing to have a child now for some odd reason but she had never voiced it out before, I really wanted a child but that didn't mean I would pressure her to have one, we were barely in our twenties according to human age so it didn't really matter, we could always agree to have children later in life if she wasn't ready. I watched her as she hurriedly left, making up an excuse to find the couples. I cringed to think that she might find herself in an awkward position if she caught them doing what I thought they had sneaked out to go do. "Is she okay?" Sirius asked when she left. "I don't know, she seems tense, I think she's stressed out because of the preparations, maybe it's gotten to her a bit," I replied. "I don't think that's the only reason though, maybe the travails are getting to her." He said and I sighed. If that was the case then there was almost nothing I could do about that, we just had to hope the cult had given up our pursuit. "I think she's just stressed, she probably has been skipping therapy." Aunt Clarice said and I agreed with her. Jade did not like going to therapy and I was sure that she'd been skipping, I didn't really know the importance of therapy myself because werewolves were built differently but if her mother thought it would help then I guess it would. "I've been thinking of sending some of our medical team to study psychology, I think therapy would benefit Jade as well as a lot of werewolves too," I said. "What?" Sirius frowned at me. "I think that's a splendid idea, I work with the wolves at the hospital and I believe some of them would benefit from therapy." "Let's just concentrate on security for now," Sirius said. "Okay," I replied and left the two of them alone, they appeared to be bickering for a while before they then started kissing and making out. Honestly, nobody knew what was wrong with those two. I got bored after a while and I mind linked Jade, she should have been back with the newlyweds by now and they were nowhere to be found. "What's taking so long?" I mind linked her. "I can't find them, I can't find them." She replied back panicking. "Where are you, come back to the party immediately, Sirius and I will end the reception and then go in search of them," I said quickly then I turned to Sirius. The look on my face passed the information across to him and he immediately left his mate and strode across to me quickly. "Where are they?" He demanded harshly. "She couldn't find them," I told him and his eyes turned dark with rage. "Let's not panic, she hasn't searched everywhere, let's check inside, in the meantime let Clarice disperse the party so everyone can be safe in their homes in case this is an invasion," I told him. "That's a good idea." He said and since Clarice was his mate he could mind link her even though she was a human. We dashed towards the house to search for them while he mind linked Clarice to disperse the party and as we searched the house yelling out for the both of them we could hear Clarice's voice through the speakers outside wrapping up the party. We made it to their room and barged in immediately, we were mind linking Liya endlessly and she was not responding because she'd blocked off her mind link. I felt so angry and helpless.
