47. The Panther Twins

[Jade] "Nix's water just broke." Someone shouted from the crowd and I rushed over to her immediately. The wolves had won the sparring context though only by a tiny margin and I realized that the panthers were particularly powerful too. I was surprised when Paige decided to up against Mason but when they started fighting, I realized why, girl was mad strong and when she shifted, she completely blew my mind away. She wasn't black, she had golden fur and black spots like a jaguar or a leopard, I wasn't really sure which one she was but she sure as hell was strong. Pierce jumped straight into the crowd and picked Nix into his arms, my heart melted to see how he cared for his pregnant wife. "Take her to the hospital," Paige advised behind me and I got out of my stunned state, Sirius stayed to keep everyone calm and Liya stayed with baby Dine while me, Mason and Brandon followed Pierce and Nix to the hospital. When we got there, the doctor said she hadn't dilated enough so we had to wait. She kept screaming in pain when the contractions hit her. Pierce was by her side, holding her hand and telling her just how strong she was and just giving her the support she needed. "Mason held me in his arms as we watched from the other side of the room, only three people were allowed in so Pierce, Paige, and her brother Brandon went in with her while Mason and I watched from the glass window outside. We waited for hours for her to dilate completely so that she could start pushing. Mason and I strolled the corridors and tried not to panic as we waited and finally she was ready to give birth, we raced back to the other side of the theater room and we saw a glimpse of the expectant mother. Brandon was so white, he looked like he might fall over in fear, Paige had no expression on her face but she held her sister in law's hand in a firm grip, Pierce was a wreck as he struggled to keep his emotions in check, his hair looked disheveled, he was sweating badly, he looked so helpless but he did his best to keep the fear out of his face and he gave her a tight smile on the bed. "Push." We heard the doctors and the nurses encouraging her as her screams echoed throughout the halls. She kept pushing but it did not seem like the baby was ready to come out, she dropped to the bed sweat and tears pouring down her face but she had a brave smile on. The nurses began to dab her face with a cloth and show their support for her as she kept on pushing. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the doctor screamed in joy and everybody rushed to see the baby. "You're almost there, I can see the head, your baby has a full head of hair." At this point, Brandon had already started crying and Pierce was failing at keeping the emotion from his face, Paige was also feeling very emotional and she let one tear slip. "Push, keep pushing." The doctor encouraged her. Nix smiled and then started pushing again, she was a really strong woman. Mason's hand tightened around me as I cried my eyes out, it was a very emotional experience, even more, emotional than Liya's giving birth had been. Liya giving birth had wasted no time and in less time than anyone had imagined, she had given birth to baby Dine, it was like she had just gone in and come out with a baby almost immediately. "There's the baby." The doctor announced shortly, followed by the loud cry of a child. "Everyone cheered happily as the baby was born and he was given to his mother, the mother took her child in her hands even though she was exhausted and she cried tears of joy. Almost immediately though, she began to scream again and the baby was immediately snatched from her hands. "What is it, what is going on?" Pierce asked frantically but the nurses tried to hold him down. The doctor checked and after a second he looked up again. "She's having another baby, she's having twins." The doctor announced excitedly. The second baby wasn't hard to birth and she pushed it out almost immediately, but something was terribly wrong, the first child was still crying but there wasn't any sound coming from the second baby. Everyone began to panic and we began to fear for the worse, Nix began to wail as the doctor struggled to get the child to breathe. He held the baby's legs and swung it sideways in the air, he tapped the baby's back and even used suction to clear its nasal regions. I began to cry sadly as the doctor tried one last attempt to get the baby to cry, the doctor swatted the bottom of the baby two times and all of a sudden a soft cry filled the air. The child was alive, a miracle the doctor said because it had been dead for about twelve minutes. The nurses took the babies, cleaned them up and wrapped them in a swaddle then placed them in a single cot. Everyone thought Nix had been expecting one child but it turned out she had twins and both of them were males, everyone started to rejoice and Mason and I rushed into the room to congratulate the new parents. Here's what I took away, the birth of a child was a real miracle, nobody, not even Mix cared about the pain she had just gone through, all we all cared about now was the new babies. "Hello, babies." I peaked at them in the cot. One had really dark hair while the other had a lighter hair color, I could not really get their features since they were newborns and they would probably change over the course of the next few months. The doctor advised Nix to stay in the hospital for a few days because she had bled profusely and Pierce readily agreed to stay with her, Brandon as well. Paige had to go back to get some things for the mother and the children, she also had to go and set things up back at their house because they had been expecting just one baby so they did not have enough preparation for two babies. Mason and I stayed a while but then we also decided to go back to the pack and share the good news. We invited the panthers that were still at the pack to stay the night after visiting their Alpha and Luna and congratulating them on the birth of their heirs. We organized a small party throughout the night, we had a bonfire, barbeque, and even fireworks, we were really happy for Pierce, he had been anticipating the coming of his child for a long time, he had lived for several years without being able to procreate and now that his wife had given him children, I was very happy for him. . . [Unknown] "What is going on, can someone tell me?" I asked furiously. Word had gotten to us that the wolves were thriving and they had even aided the Blackners in recovering from the attack that we sent to them. I was furious because nothing I did to the wolves seemed to last for very long before they bounced back from it and it was starting to frustrate me. "I think I'll just go up to the surface and burn them all to the ground," I yelled. "No mother, you need to calm down, you cannot let your emotions lead you." "Shut the hell up and don't tell me what I can or cannot do, all of you are so useless," I yelled again. "Pull yourself together mother." It was Dinai, my favorite child. "It hurts me to say this but you have also failed me Dinai." "It's not over yet, they've not won yet." She looked at me, hurt in her eyes. "Well, we obviously can't touch them now." I removed my crown and ran my hands through my hair in frustration. When I withdrew my fingers, I saw a bit of grey hair and I nearly shrieked in horror. "I need you to prepare the bath soon," I told one of the servants standing around and she rushed away from my sight. Normally witches do not age quickly, they live for hundreds of years even while looking like a young human but there are some things that dealing with dark magic takes from you. Like your ability to stay young forever and live forever, every few months, I had to bathe in a special sacrifice bath that contained blood and other substances but it was majorly fresh blood. The bath helped me to remain younger and live longer. "Call the one that's posing as the therapist, her time is up and she's achieved nothing, at least you tried to infect the pack twice and even got away with killing a lot of wolves but she's achieved nothing," I ordered Dinai. "She won't be happy about that," Dinai responded. "You talk like you don't know me, I don't give f**k if she will be happy about an order or not, tell her to come back, she's not useful to me on the surface, I can find something for her to do here." "Okay, mother." She bowed and when she rose up, she smiled at me. "You may leave." I dismissed her and she turned to leave my presence. "And one more thing Dinai, there are wrinkle lines around your mouth and forehead, take care of it, will you?" "Yes mother, you should also get to your bath." She said and left the throne room. I stood up and let my robe fall down my arms, a bunch of servants rushed to pick it up and I walked to my sacrifice room where I would take my rejuvenation bath. After that, I would come up with a strategy to hit the wolves at a spot they would never recover from and that was the head. If I managed to cause permanent damage to the Alpha or his mate then the pack would have no leader and they would scatter, at that point it would be easy for me to just pick up one by one like a hawk picks off the children of a chicken. As I soaked in the blood-filled tub, I felt my flesh contracting and becoming younger. I closed my eyes and dipped my entire body in the blood and began to chant the spells. When I was done, I raised my head out of the blood but when I looked around, I wasn't in my sacrifice room anymore and that's when I realized that I was having a vision.
