48. Surprise Mail.

The vision was a mind opener and I finally figured out what my next move was, I climbed out of the tub in high spirits and studied my naked body in the mirror, all my wrinkles were gone and my skin looked so soft and smooth, the blood had seeped into my skin so it kinda looked a bit reddish but it was glowing and looked very healthy.

I laughed heartily when I checked my hair and any sign of greying had vanished, yes I was young again.

The only way I knew to bring the wolves down was to let them do it by themselves, they had rebelled against any external forces but what about internal ones.

If you couldn't get a building to collapse from the outside then why not try to get it to collapse from the inside.

The only way that would work would be to put confusion, jealousy, rivalry, and all the other good stuff in their midst, then sit back and watch their empire crumble to the ground like a pack of cards.

Causing confusion was my strong suit, after all, it was me who caused my husband and the former great priest to be framed for a crime he didn't commit and eventually sent him to an early grave without anyone ever suspecting foul play.

The wolves were beneath me and so also was their Luna witch who they glorified in, she would be the easiest to take down, her perception of her mate bond was already wavering as it seemed, only one little push was needed and she would destroy everything with her own hands.

After the excitement of the birth of the panther twins, they stayed at the mansion for a few more days till the doctor approved Nix's discharge.

The twins were healthy with no complications and Pierce was the happiest father alive, they decided to name the twins Pace and Pax which were short for Pascal and Paxton.

Pierce had an issue with name coordination since he felt the only thing he had left from his family had been his name and his sister's and they both began with P.

When he found Nix, she was so little and she didn't have any name, he said the name Phoenix came to his mind immediately because he had literally found her emerging from a pile of ashes, her parents had been burned to death but they had managed to get their daughter and her infant brother to a hiding spot.

Phoenix had held her newborn brother in her hands, covered in ashes when they were found.

Their family was more than complete now, they were Pierce and Phoenix and now with the addition of the twins, they were now; Pierce, Phoenix, Pace, and Pax.

The mansion seemed a bit quiet and empty after they left but we were more than happy to go back to our normal routine.

I was working on a new spell when I was interrupted by a servant.

"Luna, you've received some mail." She said and dropped the pile on the table.

"Thank you very much, you may leave," I told her and she left immediately.

Getting up from my meditation sitting position, I blew out the candles around me and picked up the pile from the table.

It had a New York address so I knew instantly that it was from Zara and by the way, I still hadn't informed Mason about them, because of the excitement from the panthers, it had momentarily slipped my mind but I planned to talk to him tonight.

I opened the package and was genuinely surprised to find lots of pictures, I'd already unblocked her from social media, she could have sent the pictures to me there but she decided to send them by mail.

I smiled when I began to look through the pictures, it was pictures of the public library, museum, and other monuments we wanted to visit together. She wasn't in any of the pictures and behind them, she wrote that she would love us to visit those places together.

That reminded me of the tickets she had sent, so I went online immediately and tried to contact her. She wasn't online so I just dropped a message and left. I was clearing the envelope and stuffing them into the same hiding spot I'd kept the others when Mason walked into the room.

"What are those?" He asked, removing his jacket from his shoulders.

"These are some of the stuff I brought back from my old house." I lied to him and quickly shoved them in. "They're some old photos and memoirs but nothing more."

"Oh, old photos, let me see, I'm not giving up the opportunity to see little Jade butt naked." He laughed.

"You're so creepy." I narrowed my eyes at him, closing the shaft.

"Come on, let me see." He begged.

"Let it be, maybe next time." I flashed him a smile and pulled him into a big embrace. "How was work today?"

"Since when do you start asking me how work was?" He laughed and sniffed my hair. "You smell so nice."

"Thanks, I washed my hair this morning." I rubbed my hands together nervously as I planned to tell him the truth.

"Can I tell you something?" I asked, walking behind him, I placed my hands on the shoulders and started to give him a massage.

"Yeah sure." He looked at me seriously.

"But you have to promise not to get mad." He raised a brow at me but then he nodded.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I lied," I told him and my heart ached when hurt and confusion flashed across his eyes. He hated when I kept stuff from him or lied to him.

"What?"

"Those weren't photos and memoirs, I mean they are photos and memoirs but they aren't old and I was just trying to hide them before you came in." He removed my hands from his shoulders and gave me a very annoyed look, before he spoke though, I stopped him immediately.

"You promised not to get mad."

"Fine." He huffed. "Tell me what they are and why you were trying to hide them, you better not lie to me either."

"They just came in the mail and they're from Zara, she also sent me a letter and two plane tickets a few weeks ago, she wants me to come to visit her in New York and I promise, I wanted to tell you but—"

"Do you want to go?" He asked.

"What?"

"I asked if you wanted to go to New York?" He asked and I stared at him in shock.

"You're not mad?" I asked, surprised.

"Do you want me to be?" He asked.

"No, no, no, no." I blurted out immediately.

"Okay so do you?" He asked.

I thought about it for a second and I studied his expression. I did want to go to New York because I'd never been there but I also wanted to see Zara and maybe tour NYC. It was my dream to attend that college but if I couldn't then I could settle for a one day experience.

"Yes," I said truthfully.

"Fine, I guess I could also use a few days off." He said, stretching his arms and yawning widely.

"What, what, what did you say?" I asked in shock.

"You heard me." He replied lazily.

"Oh my goodness, you'll come with me?"

"You did say she gave you two tickets, did she not?"

"Yes, yeah she did." I jumped on top of him, hugged him tightly, and began to kiss him all over.

I was very excited, Mason and I did not get to go anywhere or spend quality time with each other because we were both so busy with pack matters, I was very excited for the change of environment and the vacation.

"Okay, okay, okay." He laughed and kissed me back. "If I had known that something like this would make you so excited, I would have suggested it a long time ago."

"Oh, I'm super excited Mace, when do we leave?" I asked him.

"I need to organize some stuff so that Sirius and Jay can manage in my absence, so I'd say in a week, we can leave in a week." He said.

"That's perfect." I smiled and then I remembered that we'd be meeting Zara. "Are you really not mad about Zara?"

"I trust you and I know that you're strong enough to take care of yourself." He smiled and pulled me into his arms. "My babe is the most powerful witch alive and if she tries something, I don't want you to hesitate, I want you to burn that b***h hair off and leave okay."

"Okay." I laughed.

I tried not to show my worry but as Jade was sleeping peacefully beside me, her warm body pressed against mine, I couldn't sleep.

I wanted to support Jade and I didn't want us fighting anymore and I really thought a vacation would help us get closer but I was genuinely terrified for her.

Jade was extremely powerful but she was very gullible and extremely trusting, I did not trust that friend of hers and I did not believe her bullsh*t that she wasn't aware of what her father wanted to do to Jade.

I wondered if she blamed Jade for her father's death and was only using their friendship to lure her out so that she could take her revenge on her.

That night I couldn't sleep, I had terrifying nightmares about Jade being taken away from me, I dreamt that Zara developed fangs and she latched them onto Jade's neck sucking her blood dry till her body fell to the ground white and lifeless.

I couldn't make it to save her on time and as her body hit the ground, I fell into a deep ocean, sinking.

I woke up startled and checked the sleeping Jade beside me, I sighed when I saw that she was okay and I knew that that was the end of my sleep tonight.

I didn't like what she wanted to do but I was going to support her and make sure to follow her around while we were in New York.

I didn't really care for big cities with their loud noises and long traffic, I preferred the countryside where the air was fresh and there weren't too many vehicles on the roads.

Also, it would be much harder to shift in a big city as compared to the countryside where there's a lot of forests where I could let my wolf out and run for miles.

I also had a fear of big cities because it was harder for us to conceal our identities and if the government found out about us, they would take us to labs or containment facilities and try to dissect us and turn us into lab rats.
