49. Vacation In The City.

[Mason]

"Thank you very much, Sirius." I smiled at him, he and Jay wrr going to be taking over the activities of the pack until Jade and I got back from our trip.

"You deserve to unwind, she deserves it too." Sirius said, tapping me on the back, from the window in my office, I could see Jade already beside the car with her luggage, she was talking and smiling happily with her brother, Liya and her mother.

"Yeah, she's so excited about this trip, I also feel that it would be good for her." I said, I decided to put off my fear and just enjoy the trip with my mate.

Jade was throwing her head back and laughing, an action that she hadn't done in months. I promised myself to always look after her wellbeing but even I knew that I'd been slacking in that aspect.

I let her get poisoned and I exposed her to a lot of harm.

I was determined to right my wrongs and to pull her as close to me as possible during this trip. She had already prepared an itinerary for us which mostly involved visiting a lot of monuments with Zara but I planned to distract her so much during our stay that she wouldn't even remember Zara's existence.

"You should get going now." Sirius' words pulled me out of my thoughts and I walked out of the office.

My luggage had already been put in the car and so I just walked outside.

"Oh have a nice trip, Mason." Liya hugged me and I hugged her back.

I took baby Dine in my arms from Jay and she smiled at me as I cooed at her and held her up in the air.

"I'll be back soon, little baby." I pecked her on the forehead before handing her back to her father. She was already three months old, such a big girl and she was growing up really fast.

Jade and I waved them all goodbye as we got in the car and we were driven to the airport.

I didn't want to use the tickets Zara sent us but I didn't say anything about them because I didn't want to risk upsetting Jade.

The driver dropped us off at the airport and soon we boarded our plane. It was first class so that goes without saying but we had a private jet Which would have been a better experience but I dared not mention that to Jade.

"You're so excited." I smiled at her, she was so happy she had a permanent smile on her face.

"I've always wanted to go to New York." She smiled.

"Why?" I asked her, suddenly concerned, she had always expressed her desire to go to New York but she had never told me why.

She looked down at her fingers on her laps and then she looked back up at me.

"My father died when Jay and I were very young, so naturally we didn't really get to know him, growing up I always felt his absence and I missed him terribly, I wasn't doing so good in school and my social life was almost non-existent until one day, when I turned thirteen my mother gave me a box of my father's memories and it was the best thing ever." She paused slightly and cleared her throat as she became overwhelmed with emotion.

"There were pictures and letters in the box, my father loved to travel a lot so there were lots of souvenirs and postcards in the box too, he listed the places he had visited at the back of each postcard but I found one that was empty, when I asked my mother she said he had been planning to visit the place before his death."

"New York." I said and she nodded her head.

"That post card helped me get my life together because I really wanted to go there for him, my mother worked really hard to take care of us so I couldn't ask her to fund my trip and then we lived in California which is quite far and so I decided to do better in school so that I could move there for college, ultimately get a job and visit all the places my father couldn't." She explained.

"But your dreams were halted when you found out you had powers and that you were my mate." I said regretfully.

She nodded her head and then she rested her head on my shoulders.

"Strangely, I wouldn't have had it any other way." Her words touched me and I closed my eyes.

"You know it's going to be really hard for me to be in a big city with a lot of people." I told her without opening my eyes.

"I'll be there, if your wolf starts bothering you, just tell me and I'll put him in his place." She replied smugly.

"Oh yeah," I chuckled quietly. "And how are you going to make him behave?" I teased her.

"Wait till then."

"Well I'm in luck because he's bothering me right now." I teased.

"Mason." She laughed and placed her hand on my chest.

We spent the rest of the flight sleeping and we were only woken up by the flight attendants when it was time for snacks and lite bites.

We were also served glasses of champagne and it was the highlight of our time on the plane.

I convinced Jade not to inform her friend that we were coming on the pretext of surprising her but in truth I just wanted our arrival to catch her off guard so if she was planning on doing something to Jade she would not have had enough time to plan it before we arrived.

At least that was my own reasoning.

We got to New York in the evening and since it was spring the weather was very favourable and the temperature was not too cold.

Jade and I checked into a five star hotel in New York and we were given the penthouse suite, I did not have business in New York but Sirius did so he had pulled some strings for us to get the best accomodations during our stay, he had even gotten us a rental car that was already packed with the valet.

"Wow, this to is amazing, I cannot believe you got us the penthouse suite." Jade gushed. "I feel like we're on our honeymoon." She blurted out and when she realized what she had said, she blushed a painful shade of red.

"Well, this could be it." My voice turned husky and I was by her side in a moment.

Wolves were traditional but in their own sense, not the human sense, Jade and I were mates and we had performed the ceremony meaning she was mine and we were bonded forever but we weren't married in the human lawful sense and I didn't think anything of that till Jay married Liya.

Jade had never expressed her wish to be married so I left things as they were, wolves did not really go for honeymoon because after mating most of them would not come out of their bedroom or mating caves as it was in the olden days for many days or weeks even.

"Mason." She called my name softly and her voice began to stir me up.

"Yes." I responded pulling her into my arms.

"Kiss me." I was shocked by her request because it wasn't like Jade to be so forward but I'll be damned if I complained about her forwardness.

I claimed her lips and began to suck on her bottom lips expertly, we had done this so many times but it never got old for me, everytime I kissed Jade, it felt like it was the first time and it felt different everytime.
