28. The Miscarriage.

[Liya] I opened my eyes slowly, it was almost as if I was afraid to open it and see the darkness. After the run last night, I was so full and tired that I slept immediately I laid down on the bed. When I got back from the run, Jay was already asleep. I wondered if he had gotten his memory back and what the next day would bring us. "How are you feeling?" A strange face stared at me on the bed. "What the hell?" I screamed and jumped off the bed startled. "Oh, I'm sorry if I startled you." Another strange face spoke. "I'm Zilla and she's Zefa, we're both witches." She said, No sh*t I thought as I took in their appearance, the one who spoke to me was very pretty and she had weird colored eyes, the other one had really dark eyes but she was still beautiful nonetheless. It's a feature I realized was very common among witches, they were very beautiful, or in Jay's case, very handsome. "What are you doing here?" I asked them, trying to calm my beating heart down. "We're here to check up on you, how do you feel, do you remember anything?" The other one whose name I think was Zefa asked. I did not feel very safe answering them since I didn't really know them so I just kept mute, I wondered where Jay was. "Where is my husband?" I asked instead. "Oh, look, she remembers." Zilla smiled warmly. "She doesn't know us." The other grimaced and headed towards the door. Before she reached the door, the door burst open, and in came Sirius. This was one face that I recognized so I bolted towards him and jumped into his arms. "Oh, my dear, how are you feeling?" He set me down gently and felt my forehead for any indication of a fever. He looked at the two strange women and some unspoken words must have passed through them because he just nodded his head and turned back to me. "I see you've met Zilla and Zefa." He said. "I have, but I didn't know them before now." I let him be aware of my uneasiness. It was a witch or something like that that had put me in the condition I was just rescued from, I didn't even know how, but I was feeling very weary of unfamiliar witches right now. "Oh, sorry for that, they helped Jade in preparing the potion that saved you and half of the pack from the green fever." Wait what! "What did you just say?" I asked, confused. "Do you not remember anything that happened after the wedding?" He asked. "I do, I remember being attacked by Nana's niece, you mustn't trust her, she's the one responsible for all that happened, where is she, she is dangerous, you can't allow her to walk free, it's her, it's—" "Calm down, Liya, you have a lot to catch up on but first I'm going to let you get checked by them." He said. "So you're not going to tell her." The mean-looking one said. "Tell me what?" I asked him. "Zilla is my aunt and Zefa is my cousin." He sighed. "They're witches, how is that supposed to be possible? If they're related to you, that means they're related to me too, oh my goodness." "They're from your great grandmother's bloodline, I'll explain everything to you later, I promise it will make sense but I really have to go." He said and left hurriedly. I looked around the very familiar room that I had lived in since Jay moved in with me and suddenly it didn't feel so familiar anymore. "What the h*ll is going on?" "You might want to refrain from using h*ll in your statements," Zilla said. "We can tell you the whole story when you're ready but for now we do have to give you a physical exam," Zefa said and pointed to the chaise lounge in the room. "You'll be more comfy there." She added. I went to the chaise lounge and laid on it as she requested, the both of them stood over me and began to mutter some chants but I wasn't afraid because I had heard Jay chant something similar whenever he wanted to use magic but when their eyes or should I say the weird eye color lady's eye started to glow, I nearly bolted off the chaise lounge. They dropped their hands after a while and looked at each other sadly, I sat upright on the chaise lounge and stared at them. "You're fine." They muttered and turned to leave the room. "Are you that upset that I'm fine?" I asked sarcastically. "We should go meet the others." That was what they said and left the room. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face before leaving the room. I knew everyone would be at Mason's office so that's where I went. *** I sat quietly listening to their explanations, I really had a lot to catch up on, Jay seemed to understand everything they said but I sure did not. "You're saying the girl was possessed by the spirit of a witch that belongs to a dark cult that practices the use of dark magic which is forbidden and that now the spirit is trapped in her body inside the cell." "Exactly." Jade nodded her head. How in the world did they think that was an easy explanation. "I know this is a lot, Liya, but you'll understand everything in time," Mason said. Finally, someone that had some sense. "What are we going to do now?" I asked rather than admit that I did not understand a thing. "First we have to perform an exorcism to rid the girl of the spirit forever and we have to hope that she survives the exorcism." Aunt Zilla said. I started to call her aunt after they explained our family relationship. I couldn't believe that I had a whole family line of witches, it was pretty awesome. "Then we have to go back to the land of darkness with proof that we're being attacked by the cult, once we get the majority help from the witches then we can work to smoke out the cult and be rid of them forever," Mason said. Well said, great speech, I gave it to him but I didn't think it would work out as easily as he said. "Any idea why we're being targeted in particular," I asked the question nobody was asking. "No reason that we know of, according to the circle, the cult is a group of crazy, power-hungry witches, so we believe it's for the same reason why every kingdom gets attacked, power," Jade explained. Another great speech, are you seeing where I'm going with this? A power couple. "The Council will hear you once they see the proof and with their support and that of the Blackners, we will definitely be able to get rid of the cult," Zefa said. "Do we know any way to contact them or how to find them?" Jade asked Zilla. "The Council is well aware of the whereabouts and activities of the cult, most of their members fled the cult when they couldn't stand the reign of the evil Priestess and so they founded the Council," Zilla explained. "If that is all, we can all go back to our businesses, I hope that you and Jay will be on bed rest," Mason said to me. As I stood up from the chair I was sitting on, I felt a sharp pain in my midriff, the pain was so strong I had to tighten my hold on the furniture, breaking it in the process. I had never felt this kind of pain, not even during my heat. I screamed when the pain became unbearable and I felt a liquid trickling down my legs. "No, no, no, no, no," Jay shouted and came to my side in an instant. "We have to rush her to the hospital." Someone yelled and Jay carried me into his arms. "I'm bleeding." I started to cry. "Jay, my baby, I'm bleeding." *** The doctor managed to stop the bleeding and the unbearable pain. I lay on the hospital bed with my hand on my stomach and I wondered what news the doctor would give me. Jay was by my side and his hand was on mine in a supportive manner but no amount of support could help me now. If the doctor brought the news I thought he was going to bring then my life would be shattered. "Beta." The doctor came in with a writing pad in his hand and I tried to read the news he came to give us through the look on his face. He was a professional though, his expression did nothing to give him away. "What happened to my baby?" I asked him right away, I had no patience or desire for suspense. His expression softened after I mentioned the child and he moved closer to me, his notepad on the table beside me, he reached to take my hand in his. That gesture brought tears to my eyes as I already knew what he wanted to say. "I'm sorry." "No, no, not my child, not my baby, please do something, please Jay, please my goddess, no, not my child, oh no." I cried bitterly. "The fetus couldn't survive because of the chromosomal abnormalities it went through because of the poison that was in your veins and this also caused the umbilical cord to prolapse." He tried to explain like that would make me feel any better.
