27. The Cure.

[Mason] Soon, the three weeks were up and it was the night of the full moon. As soon as the full moon came up, Zilla asked us to carry all the sick out to the open under the moonlight. My wolf was itching to come out since it was the full moon but I managed to get him under control, I wanted all the wolves to run together as a pack. After all the sick were brought out including Jay and Liya, Zilla, Jade and Zefa stood hand in hand in front of them and began to chant some spells. The potion was in a glass flask and it began to shake vigorously as they continued chanting the spells and the liquid began to absorb the color of the moon. Sirius Andi stood at the back of the bodies on the ground watching what was happening with growing interest. I couldn't help but notice how amazing my Luna was. Clarice was also outside with us, she had managed to come down when she heard that a cure had been found and she was waiting for it to be used. After a lot of chanting, they stopped and I heard Zilla say "Just a drop will be enough." And then they used their magic to begin to move drops of the potion into the mouths of the victims. I watched Liya with sadness in my heart, she must've been so excited about the child, now she would wake up and find out that her baby was no more. She was supposed to have been almost at the end of her pregnancy if not for the green sickness and now she still looked like she wasn't pregnant at all. I wondered how we would tell her the news, Liya had always wanted a family and she was so happy on her wedding day, Jay would also be broken too. As happy as I was that they were coming back to us, I was also sad that they would be coming back incomplete. . . [Jade] The moon blessed us with its power and the moon goddess definitely supported our conquest because the green fever started to visibly leave the bodies of those we gave the potion to. The people began to get up in masses and though they were slightly drained from the heavy fever and slightly disoriented, they were fine. I cried when Jay and Liya also stood up after taking the potion. We decided not to talk about the baby and just enjoy the fact that the epidemic was over in the meantime. "What happened?" Jay asked, holding his head and staggering slightly. "Be careful there," I told him and held him up a bit. The wolves were still disoriented but they had no difficulty remaining on their feet. "Do you think we can go for a run?" Mason asked me, his eyes flickering between blue and amber. "I think it's safe, isn't it Zilla?" I asked loudly. "What?" "I was asking if it's safe for the wolves to go for a run, the full moon is calling out to their wolves." "Yes, those that took the potion will be stronger for the next twelve hours because they have the added power of the full moon flowing in their veins, this should be their best run yet." She said smiling. "Okay, if that is it then on my command," Mason growled and changed into his wolf in an instant. All the wolves around began howling and changing, Sirius and Liya also joined them and they stood uniformly behind their Alpha. I moved to the back of the lines alongside Zilla, Zefa, Jay, and my mother. "The Luna runs with the pack, always." Mason mind linked me. I smiled as I watched the pack make room for me to walk to the front of the crowd. I wondered how I could run with them. I might be a witch but I was almost like a human compared to them in terms of supernatural strength. Mason's wolf was a true Alpha wolf so he stood on his feet as opposed to all the other wolves who were on all fours, he was over twelve feet tall and he was huge. He towered over my small stature and I stood like a short kitchen stool next to a refrigerator next to him. "Hop on." He said distracting me from my thoughts and I saw that he had bent before me. Of course, that was the only way this could work, he was going to carry me. That made sense and the gesture seemed very nice to me, my heart literally melted then and there. If I loved him any more, my heart would definitely explode. I climbed onto his back and wrapped my hands around his thick neck tightly to secure me to him. "Hold on tight." He told me and then he growled loudly, signaling to the pack that they were ready for a run. . . [Liya] It felt strange like I'd been locked in a bad dream with no way to escape. The only thing that kept me alive was the need to see my child born and my mate's strength. Throughout the fever, I saw him in my dreams, he kept on urging me to hang on and pleading with me not to give up. I was in a dark tunnel, even with my wolf eyes I couldn't see anything, it was dark, so dark and cold, it was so cold and I had no clothes to keep me warm. I sat down and wrapped my hands around my body to keep me warm, I was all alone, there was no one around and nothing could be heard for miles, it was all quiet, too quiet except the occasional voices in my head, the ones from Jay where he begged me to stay alive and the ones from an unknown person who advised me to yield, as it would be easier and less painful to do so. There was no mistaking the advice I followed, I had to stay strong and I had to stay sane. I don't know how long I was trapped in this place or state of consciousness but I just remembered that one day it started to get warm, really warm, and then it began to get hot, really hot and I could not stay in the tunnel any longer. I began to run and scream for help, I began to run and I tried to call out to my wolf but she was nowhere to be found, she wasn't answering me and I began to fear that I had lost her. In my darkest hour, I saw a light and I followed it, very poetic and fictional, I know but that was what happened. I saw the tiniest bean of light and it restored my hope. I ran towards the light source and there I found my wolf, lying on soft grass, caressing her belly that was round and full with child. I smiled as I walked into the light and I no longer felt despair. I was about to get to my wolf when she howled loudly in pain and when I looked around her, she was bleeding. I screamed but before I could reach her, I woke up. *** It was strange waking up, I felt confused and disoriented, I didn't know where I was and I had no memory of how I came here. From the looks on everyone's face, it looked like I and a lot of others had been out for a long time. I searched the crowd frantically and when I saw Jay with his sister, I relaxed. My hand went to my belly possessively and since I didn't feel any different, I concluded that my child was fine. Sirius rushed to me and gave me a big hug followed by Mason, the full moon was calling out to me and I felt my wolf howling inside. She wanted to be free, she needed to run. At Mason's howl, we all were on standby ready to run, I still felt kind of disoriented but if there was one thing I recognized, it was my Alpha, my wolf, and her need to run. Changing to my wolf was the best thing that could happen to me, I felt free and powerful, the power of the full moon was flowing in my veins and it made my shift two times easier. I don't know why but my wolf felt like she was on steroids, at the single from the Alpha, we broke into a run. The hunt was the next best thing after the run and it was already starting. My wolf felt starved and she attacked and overpowered the first deer that she smelt, after removing the Alpha's portion, she devoured the rest of the meat, and still it wasn't enough, she wanted, no, she needed more. The rest of the wolves felt the same way as they howled aggressively and took off farther into the woods in search of meat. I was on my second kill when I decided to head to the lake to get some water to drink. It was on my way to the lake that everything made sense to me and I remembered everything. It was the girl, it was Nana's cousin who had poisoned us. The memory of that day came back to me quickly. Jay saw her sprinkling an unknown substance into the food and drinks reserved for the guests, he challenged her but all she did was laugh at him. I was enraged by that and I tried to attack her, she hit me with something invisible and I fell to the ground, from my position on the ground I saw Jay attack her with his powers and they began to fight, after a while, she overpowered Jay and threw him to the ground beside me. She held us in place with magic, I did not even know how she had magic in the first place, she was a werewolf, werewolf didn't have magical powers, unlike witches. The last thing I saw before I fell into a deep darkness was her eyes turning black and a smirk on her lips.
