14 - DR. WOODS

1258 Words
DRIVING through the long road, the tunnel of trees has been keeping Mia company. It brought back memories of her childhood and teenage years. She remembered running through these trees on all fours with her father running behind. She was seventeen, and months before she was supposed to be the alpha of the pack. She took a deep sigh. It was nostalgic, both brought her both happiness and sadness at the same time. Violet has been on the road for more than three hours. It was still dark when she left the warehouse to get the supplies that she needed for the pack. It was a blessing that she was connected with organizations that were used to and could immediately lend a hand in emergency cases like what happened to the Lunar pack. It was also a blessing that the huge sponsors of these organizations were mostly part of the werewolf community. In a few calls, she was able to collect a lot of medical and food supplies for the pack. It was after three in the morning when the plane landed. Right when she got out of the local airport, a friend of hers was already waiting. Together, they went to the warehouse to pick up the truck loaded with everything she had asked for the night before. A couple of kilometers before she reached the main gate of the Lunar Pack, she noticed a werewolf following her from each side. They were running behind the trees. Despite the subtlety, she caught sight of them. She was expecting it. She would be very disappointed if no one saw a vehicle using the path going in the direction of the territory. The road separates the territories of the two packs. The road was public property, but no one ever used it except the packs sharing the same road. It seldom happened that tourists reached the area unless they were lost. From afar, Violet noticed two warriors guarding the main gate. She knew that there were more patrols looking her way from different directions. She stopped before the gate. She rolled down the window when a warrior approached her side. “Good morning.” She greeted. “I’m Dr. Woods. I’m looking for Alpha Julian.” She noticed one guy mind linking. “What’s your name again, Ma’am?” “Doctor Woods.” She repeated. “I brought supplies. They were at the back of the truck. You can check it.” Violet went down. Two men followed her when she get to the back. They checked the inside of the truck. They even open two boxes with different labels. They went back down and closed the door. “You will be escorted to the pack house, Dr. Woods.” “Thank you. They can ride with me.” One of the guards who checked the boxes joined her in the passenger seat. Upon entering the gate, the man seated beside her began to give her directions. She followed him diligently. In less than ten minutes, they reached the pack house. It used to be a single-story building. However, Violet was looking at a three-floor sturdy building. Despite the attack, the building was standing proud. It was quite a change in the last ten years since she was gone. She noticed the additional infrastructure while driving in the territory. There was a children’s park near the pack house. Although some were destroyed, there was no park in the territory when she was growing up. She was told to park right in front of the pack house entrance, where Julian was waiting. He was standing alone with an unreadable expression on his face. She sent him a smile when their eyes met. She approached him. The teenager that she left behind when she runaway ten years ago was gone. Standing before her was a man taller than her by half a foot. His body was filled with muscles in all the right places. His hair was trimmed very short. He has a very strong resemblance to their father. Their eyes remained on each other until she was standing before him. “Doctor Woods, huh?” “I have been known with that name for the past four years.” He chuckled. Julian took a step before he opened his arms. She hugged him tighter. It has been a while since she felt this warmth. She missed this not-so-little guy. “You’re very tall.” She whispered. “You are, too.” He responded before letting her go. “You looked different but the same.” “Yeah. I grew older.” “That, too.” They faced the four-wheeler truck that Violet drove. The man who accompanied her was standing at the backside of the vehicle. He was waiting for instructions. “I was told that you brought something.” “I did. These were the few things that I can provide for now.” “I met your other friend.” He glanced at Violet. “I didn’t know that you were friends with Alpha Cane of the Metis Pack.” “He’s an acquaintance. We have common friends. I am more acquainted with his mother.” Surprise registered on the alpha’s face. He frowned. His mouth opened to say something, but eventually, he closed it again. “H-how…” “It was a long story. I intended to tell you soon during my break. If you will give me a few minutes of break between checking the injured.” She said with a wide smile. He laughed, too. “I want to know how and why you were acquainted with the person I adore so much in this lifetime.” “Julian, Solana Petrov is married. Her kids are older than you. Her mate would not let you anywhere near her if she learned that you covet her beloved.” She knew how much her brother respected former Alpha Solana Petrov. He has a huge crush on that woman. “How could you say that to your brother, V?” He uttered. “Wait, you met her mate?” “I did. Villel Bombardo is a beautiful woman.” “Where have you been, woman?” “Around.” “So, you changed your name and became a wanderer?” “Something like that.” She grinned. What he said was not so far from the truth. Indeed, she has been wandering around the globe since she left home. Violet motioned at the four-wheeler truck. “Where will I start, Alpha? These were medical and food supplies.” A flicker of emotion appeared on Julian’s face. The ‘alpha’ thing seemed to be a sensitive topic for him. She stared at her young brother. She knew that she had left a huge responsibility on his shoulders when she left. She also knew that it was not easy for him. But looking at the changes in the territory, Julian deserved to be praised. His pack survived death. Not all packs pulled through a huge attack. “It’s yours. It was meant for you. You earned it.” He nodded. He cleared his throat before he faced the young warrior. Sometimes, even a strong person needs confirmation. “Asked others to help you bring the boxes. The medical supplies will be in the infirmary, and the others will be in the supply room.” He commanded the warrior. “Yes, Alpha.” He turned to Violet. “Come on. I will tour you to your new office, Dr. Woods.”
