Chapter 1 — A New Territory
The road leading to Moon Valley Pack was quieter than Lyra expected.
Tall pine trees surrounded the narrow path, their branches swaying gently in the evening wind. The air smelled different here—cleaner, colder, and somehow heavier.
Lyra rolled down the car window slightly and breathed in.
Her wolf stirred faintly inside her, restless.
Beside her, Daniel kept his eyes on the road as he drove through the large iron gates marking the entrance to the pack territory.
“So this is Moon Valley,” he said with a small smile. “Not bad.”
Lyra nodded, though her attention was elsewhere.
The moment the car passed through the gates, something inside her chest tightened.
It wasn’t pain.
Just… a strange awareness.
“You okay?” Daniel asked, noticing her silence.
“Yes,” she replied quickly. “Just tired from the trip.”
It wasn’t a lie. The journey from her home pack had taken almost a full day. Her father insisted the training program in Moon Valley would be good for her.
You need to learn more about other packs, he had said.
Lyra wasn’t against the idea, but leaving home still felt strange.
Especially when she had never lived anywhere outside her own pack territory before.
Daniel parked the car near the guest house.
A few pack members walked past them, giving curious glances at the newcomers.
Lyra stepped out of the car and stretched her legs.
The cool evening air brushed against her skin.
Again, her wolf shifted uneasily.
Something feels different, it whispered quietly in her mind.
Lyra frowned slightly.
Different how?
Before she could think about it further, Daniel closed the car door and walked around to her side.
“Come on,” he said. “Let’s check in before it gets dark.”
They entered the guest house together.
Inside, the place looked warm and welcoming, with wooden walls and soft lighting. A woman sitting behind the front desk greeted them politely.
“You must be the visitors from Silver Brook Pack,” she said.
Lyra nodded.
“Yes, that’s us.”
The woman handed them two keys.
“Your rooms are upstairs. Alpha Kael will meet you tomorrow morning to discuss the training schedule.”
Lyra thanked her and took the key.
As she turned toward the stairs, that strange feeling returned again.
Stronger this time.
Her wolf shifted suddenly.
Wait…
Lyra paused.
“What’s wrong?” Daniel asked.
“I don’t know,” she murmured.
For a moment, she simply stood there, listening to the quiet sounds of the building.
Nothing unusual.
No danger.
Yet her wolf remained alert.
Finally she shook her head and forced a small smile.
“It’s nothing,” she said. “I think I just need some rest.”
Daniel laughed softly.
“That’s what happens after a long trip.”
They walked upstairs together.
Lyra unlocked her room and stepped inside.
It was simple but comfortable—a bed near the window, a small desk, and a view of the forest outside.
The moon was already rising above the trees.
Lyra placed her bag on the floor and walked toward the window.
The forest stretched endlessly beyond the pack houses, dark and peaceful under the night sky.
Her wolf stirred again.
But this time the feeling was different.
Not restless.
Not nervous.
Curious.
Lyra placed a hand on the window frame and looked out into the distance.
“Strange,” she whispered.
Far away, somewhere deeper in the territory, another wolf suddenly lifted his head.
Alpha Kael stood on the balcony of the pack house, the night wind brushing through his dark hair.
His wolf had been calm all evening.
Until now.
He frowned slightly and looked toward the guest houses.
A scent had just entered his territory.
Familiar.
Yet unknown.
Kael narrowed his eyes.
“Who just arrived?” he murmured quietly.
