Chapter 7: You're More Than That

Alani stared at Kade, taking him in. She felt overwhelmed. She just needed a moment to not see, smell, or hear him. She may have decided to shore up her defenses against him last night, but she had yet to do so and she didn’t need him here at this very moment creeping in before she could fully harden her heart to him. She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, his intoxicating scent filling her lungs. When she opened them again, he was still there, staring at her. She sighed and sat up, scooting her back to the headboard to support. Kade put her coffee and plate on her side table and adjusted her sprained ankle, keeping it propped on a pillow. Alani thanked him, not meeting his gaze. Kade gave her the plate of breakfast. He’d made waffles, eggs, her turkey bacon, and some fresh fruit. She thanked him again and began to eat still avoiding his gaze. “How are you feeling this morning Alani?” He asked her. She swallowed her mouthful of waffle. “I’m better Kade. Just a little sore, but I’ve already taken my medication. Thank you for putting it out for me. And getting me to bed last night.” A flush of red graced her cheeks. Kade smiled at that, she may be feeling a little differently towards him, but she was still his shy little mate. “Once I’m done, we can begin working. I know you want to get started soon.” “There’s no rush Alani.” She looked at him then, her brows furrowed in confusion. “I’ve made some adjustments so that you can rest for the next couple of days. I’ve looked over what you were able to get done and we have less to do than I anticipated. I want you to rest for the time being. I’ll be in the guest bedroom finishing some things.” As he made a move to leave Alani called. “Wait! What do you mean? I know we have a lot to do. I anticipated when I left yesterday that I’d have enough to keep me working for the next 4-5 days. And what do you mean you’re in my guest bedroom?”

                Kade took in her frazzled demeanor and gave a smile. “Alani, you’ve provided a lot of ground work, more than I thought an assistant was capable of, no offense. You’re very thorough, and I appreciate that. So now I want you to rest and recuperate and get better. I meant what I said when I said I’d be here to take care of you. I’ll stay in the guest bedroom while you are getting better.” “You can’t do that! You can’t live here!” Alani was horrified. How could she put distance between them if he was always underfoot? ”Alani-“ Kade began. “No. I’m sorry Mr. James, but this is a little above and beyond your call of duty. I can look after myself. I appreciate that you value me as an employee, but I think that this is too-too-“ before she could finish her sentence, Kade stalked to her, removed her plate from her lap, grabbed her by the back of he had, his hands wrapping in her micro-locks, and pulled her face to him. “Believe me Alani, I value you more than as just an employee.” With that he caught her lips in a searing kiss. Immediately, Alani felt the heat course through her. She gripped his wrists and pulled herself closer to him. Kade growled and she gasped. He took advantage of that and his tongue explored the recess of her mouth. Alani moaned in ecstasy. His kiss was sending zips of arousal straight to her core. Alani pulled Kade closer to her, needed to have full contact with him.

                Kade groaned as Alani pulled him to her. He could smell her arousal. It was heady and hot and it was driving him crazy. His wolf was clawing at him, howling with triumph and the urging him to mate with her. Kade laid Alani down, putting one knee between her legs. She’d taken her sweatpants off sometime during the night and now  all that separated his flesh with hers was a scrap of thin fabric. He felt her wetness on his knee and growled out in excitement. Alani moaned at the feel of Kade’s chest against hers. She felt twinges of pain from her exertion but couldn’t care less at the moment. The man was driving her crazy. She felt his leg between her legs and like some kind of nymph, she took full advantage of it. Immediately she began to rub herself against his thigh. She moaned loudly at the feel of him. Kade recaptured her lips as one of his hands slid down her body and grabbed a handful of her lush ass. He pulled her to him, increasing the pressure. Alani cried out at the added pressure, throwing her head back. Kade kissed her neck, sucking at the crook between her neck and shoulder. His wolf was howling to mark her, but Kade knew he couldn’t. Instead he sucked at her and helped her grind out her pleasure against him. Alani was a wild thing. She felt herself climbing her peak and grabbed onto Kade. She screamed his name, her back bowing. He growled out her name and recaptured her mouth, kneading her ass as she slowly came back to earth. He continued to kiss her, overwhelming her senses and her body. He was coaxing the fires in her again. He tore his lips from hers and touched his forehead to hers.

                Both of their breathing was ragged, and Alani could feel his member through his sweatpants, heavy and large against her hip. She looked at him and caught his eyes. With her free hand she palmed his arousal. Kade closed his eyes and growled. The pleasure so intense at the feel of her soft hands on him. He took her hands trapped them above her head. He kissed her again. “Make no mistake Alani. I want you more than you know and it doesn’t have s**t to do with you being a phenomenal employee.” Alani’s eyes widened at that. “You know you felt it just as I did at the bistro that day; don’t deny it. You being my direct employee was a fortunate coincidence that I plan to take full advantage of. As much as I am sorry that you were hurt, I can’t help but be grateful that it’s allowing me to be right where I want to be. With you.” He kissed her again, causing her eyes to close and her body to bow beneath his. The man’s kiss was potent. “You’re are more than an employee to me, Alani. Tell me you know that.” Alani stared into his eyes and saw that he was being genuine and nodded. He smiled at that and kissed her again, causing her to groan, pulling her hands from his and clawing him closer. He allowed her to deepen the kiss, then he pulled himself from her. He stared at her, a flush of red tinting her brown skin, her heavy breast heaving in arousal. He traced a distended n****e and listened to her breath hitch. “Finish your breakfast, love. I’m going to go take a cold shower. When I get back, we can work if you want or you can relax. It’s your call.” When he was halfway to the door, he heard Alani say “You don’t have to take that cold shower if you don’t want to.” He looked back at her, the desire and invitation evident in her gaze. Even as his wolf urged him to go to her he growled and stalked out. 

    Alani was stunned. And heavily aroused. She was for certain that Kade had no intention of acting on their shared interest, but in actuality he was maneuvering her right into his clutches. Even as she was surprised, she couldn’t help but feel a little overwhelmed. Kade was a big man. From what she could tell, he was big all over and it was a little intimidating. Sure, she wanted him, but taking him was another matter altogether. She picked up her plate and finished eating her food as she thought about the logistics of it. It didn’t help at all. All she could think of was taking him deep in her, from all angles and positions. Giving up on eating, she laid back on the bed making herself comfortable. She let the reel of erotic images lull her to sleep.

                Kade entered Alani’s bedroom to find her sleep. He smiled tenderly at the image of her. Her long legs were uncovered, one foot propped up and the other bent. Her t-shirt was riding up her soft belly. Kade felt his chest heat with feeling. He wanted this woman like no other. He’s been waiting so long for his match, and to think, she lived so close for so long. Wolves usually found their mate in their early years of adulthood. His mother and father found each other at just 18, most of his pack member with the exception of a few were already mated. On his 18th birthday, Kade was for sure he was going to find his mate. He threw a birthday bash and invited everyone, but he didn’t find her. Over the years, he’d held out hope that she would make herself known, but to no avail. Pack responsibilities and the starting of his company kept him busy for years. Women from far and wide tried to catch his attention, and while he may have taken some up on their offers, he never opened himself to them, knowing his mate had to be out there somewhere. He was glad he did because his mate was everything he was looking for. She was tall, lithe, and had a spine of steel. She was smart, professional, more than competent. Kade wasn’t sure how he got so lucky, but he was happy for it. Alani was opening something in him that he’s never experienced and he intended to explore it. Her desire for him ignited a fire that couldn’t be banked. He couldn’t wait until her could feel her underneath him again. He wanted her wrapped around him, taking what he gave her until he spilled his seed in her. Kade could smell her innocence though, so he knew he had to go slowly. She may not be as experienced as he, but he looked forward to teaching her.

                Banking the fire of his arousal, he went to the guest room and grabbed his computer and files. He didn’t want to be away from his mate. Not even for a minute. He settled next to her sleeping form and began to work. He was serious when he said Alani went above and beyond with her work. She’d laid the groundwork for the contracts that we’re drawn up, drafting all possible changes for negotiations that needed to be made and having acceptance letters drawn and payment requests drafted. At this point the ball was in the court of the correspondents. He went through email and answered back to department heads and made decisions. When he felt himself grow drowsy, he laid everything on the floor beside the bed and laid next to Alani, gingerly pulling her close, careful with her injuries. As he wrapped his arms around her, she mumbled his name in her sleep. His chest warmed with pleasure knowing she him, even in her sleep. He let sleep overtake him, happy to have his sweet little mate in his arms.
