Clara Bennett
His lips tasted like a piece of heaven. The faint mint from his breath mixed perfectly with the warm, demanding way his mouth moved against mine. My eyes were closed shut, with no intentions of backing out or pulling away.
His hand stayed firm on the back of my neck, holding me exactly where he wanted me while his other hand gripped my waist through the sparkling peach dress.
I could feel the heat of his fingers pressing into my side, pulling me closer across the leather seat. The kiss started deep and hungry, like he had been holding back for days.
His tongue brushed against my bottom lip, and I opened for him without thinking, letting him taste me fully.
A low, rough moan rumbled from his throat ... “Mmhh…” .... vibrating against my mouth.
The sound sent a rush of heat straight between my legs. I pressed my body tighter against his, my hands sliding up his chest to grip the lapels of his suit jacket.
The fabric felt expensive under my fingers, but all I could focus on was the hard muscle underneath.
Ryder tilted his head slightly and kissed me harder, his tongue exploring my mouth with slow, confident strokes.
I kissed him back just as desperately, my loose hair falling forward and brushing against his shoulder.
The car kept moving smoothly through traffic, but it felt like the rest of the world had disappeared.
There was only the taste of him, the scent of his cologne wrapping around me, and the way his big hand kept sliding lower on my waist, dangerously close to my hip.
My heart was pounding wildly. Guilt screamed in the back of my head .... *Stop. This is wrong. You’re betraying him. Think about Mom.* But those voices felt distant. Right now, all I could feel was the way Ryder was kissing me like I belonged to him. Like he had been starving for this exact moment.
I shifted closer, my thigh pressing against his. He responded by pulling me even tighter, almost lifting me halfway onto his lap. Our breathing grew heavier, mixing together in the small space of the back seat.
His fingers tangled gently in my hair, tugging just enough to send sparks down my spine. I let out a soft whimper into his mouth, completely lost in him.
But then reality slammed back into me like a cold wave.
I pulled away suddenly, breaking the kiss with a gasp. My lips felt swollen and tingling. I stared at him with wide eyes, my chest rising and falling fast. My hands were still gripping his jacket like I couldn’t fully let go.
“I’m so sorry,” I whispered, my voice shaky and breathless. “That… that was a mistake. I don’t know what came over me. It won’t affect our friendship, I promise. We can just forget that ever happened....”
Ryder didn’t let me finish.
A slow, dangerous smile spread across his lips. His eyes were dark with desire as he cupped my face with both large hands, his thumbs gently stroking my flushed cheeks. Before I could say another word, he leaned in and shut me up with another kiss.
This one was slower, but just as intense. His lips moved against mine with purpose, savoring every second. He kissed me like he was claiming me, soft but possessive. One of his hands slid from my cheek into my hair, holding me exactly where he wanted while the other stayed on my waist. I melted into it again, my resistance crumbling as I kissed him back, my fingers curling into his shirt.
When he finally pulled back, his forehead rested against mine. Our breaths mingled in the heated space between us. His thumbs kept stroking my cheeks tenderly.
“Don’t apologize, Clara,” he murmured, his voice low and rough. “I’ve wanted to kiss you since the first day you walked into my office.”
I stayed close, my hands still resting on his chest, feeling his heartbeat racing under my palms.
My mind was a chaotic mess ... guilt twisting painfully with the undeniable pull I felt toward him.
But with his hands on my face and the taste of him still lingering on my lips, I couldn’t find the strength to move away. But in the middle of all that, I managed to get a piece of his hair...I slid it inside my purse, holding onto it tightly like my life depended on it.
I knew I was wrong, but I had to snap back to reality for my mother.
At least with this, I'd have somewhere to start with Victor and his cruelty.
The car continued toward the gala, but in that moment, nothing else seemed to exist.
I glanced out the window like there was something interesting, but his hand wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer.
“Relax, everything will be fine.“
I looked at him with a firm expression, before I forced a smile.
“Yeah...That's right.“ I swallowed hard.
