Chapter Six

1819 Words
Four years later Since that morning, the pack has been living more in harmony. The bullying slowed down to a stop within the pack and everyone has been getting along better. The pack has gotten stronger, where everyone worked together and helped each other out. Leo and I have been texting each other every other day since my fourteenth birthday, keeping in contact until I turned eighteen, which will be in a couple of days. For Christmas after my fourteenth birthday, he sent me a new saddle for Chaos because Eivor’s saddle was not fitting him correctly. We have won the FEI the Pre-Junior and Junior championships in Lexington last year and we will go after my birthday to the Young Rider Championships with Chaos. Unfortunately, I had to put Eivor down over the summer as his arthritis got to the point he couldn’t get up anymore from his afternoon naps in the paddock. It affected me and Chaos with losing a good friend. I had Eivor for tens years and he enjoyed his retirement, peppermint treats, and spa days. It was a beautiful morning, so I took Chaos up to the waterfall. Uncle Abe and Oscar followed close by in their wolf form, so I would have some alone time. When we got there, I sat there thinking about the day I turn eighteen and finally get to claim Leo as my mate. It was quiet as the water crashed down onto the rocks below. I looked down at the water and saw the trout swimming around. “Can we go fishing?” Venus asked, wagging her tail. “We can later. I have Chaos right here, and I don’t want to spook him by shifting into you,” I told her. She huffed and went to lie down in my head. Chaos is used to the wolves of our pack and doesn’t mind them. It is the shifting that freaks him out a bit. I shook my head and continued to admire the waterfall. My phone dinged, and it was Leo. “I cannot wait to see you soon! The last few weeks have been torture for me,” he wrote. It has been torture for me, too. For the last four years, he’s been trying to track down the hunter’s headquarters, and he believes his special ops team has finally found it. He won’t tell me whereas it is top secret, but he told me he was going on the mission with his team this time. He should be back right before my birthday, so we could celebrate together. “Piper, where are you?” Nana asked. “At the waterfall.” “You better get back here and control your brothers. They are tearing up the suite again!” Shit, they must have gotten into another fight. I am going to kick their asses this time. Mom and dad are away on vacation to Hawaii and left Uncle Jack in charge of the pack. I went and mounted Chaos and rode him back to the stables. I linked Anthony to meet me outside and take care of my boy so I can handle my brothers. He was standing outside when I rode up. Handing the reins over to him, I ran to the house and ran up the emergency steps to our suite. When I got to the door, I heard a loud crash and one of the boys yelling. I threw opened the door and saw the mess in the living room. The boys had broken both couches, and the coffee table was in splinters. The TV lay on the ground with its screen busted, and the game consoles were all broken. All four of the boys were in the middle, wrestling around, with Nana and Emma standing behind the island, with cast iron skillets in their hands. “LYKEON MICHAEL, JULIAN JAMES, LEIF ANDREW, AND ALEXIOS MARCOS! WHAT THE f**k DO THE FOUR OF YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE DOING?” I screamed at them. They all stopped wrestling around and looked at each other, then looked at me. “Get your asses up and get this living room cleaned up! I will have to go to the warehouse and get mom all new furniture AGAIN! This is the second time in the past year you four have busted up the furniture!” They all jumped up and started to gather all the broken furniture. “We were just having fun, sis,” Alex told me, flashing his million-dollar smile at me. “I don’t care. You were told to take that s**t out to the training grounds if you want to wrestle by both mom and dad! I am surprised Nana and Emma didn’t clock all four of you on the head with the cast-iron pans!” I yelled and marched over to each of them, knocking each one onto their asses. “Clean up and Uncle Jack will be adding extra miles to your run and extra workouts!” I went over to the kitchen and looked at Nana and Emma. “Are you two ok?” I asked. “Yeah, we’re ok. We got back here just in time before stuff flew around the room,” Nana explained. I walked out of the suite and linked Angelica and Monica. “Can you meet me at the warehouse? The boys busted the living room up again,” I asked her. “Yeah, I can be there in fifteen.” I jumped into my truck, a 2022 3500 Dodge Ram extended Crew Cab I got when I turned 16 and drove down to the warehouse. This is where mom keeps the extra furniture for our pack members when they move into a new home. I walked in and Monica was there. “Hi Piper, what brings you down here?” she asked, smiling. “My four i***t brothers. They busted up the living room again and I came down here to get new furniture.” Monica rolled her eyes when I told her what the boys did and got to work. “I know what your mom likes, and she was eyeing a few things the last time they destroyed the living room. Let me handle this and everything will be in its place in a couple of hours,” she told me. “Thank you, Aunt Monica,” I told her and walked out of the office. Mom put Monica in charge of the warehouse since she has great taste in decorating homes. Instead of driving back to the packhouse, I shifted into Venus to let her run and get my frustration out. We ran around the pack for a few hours, and Venus caught a rabbit that was hid in some brush. It was dinnertime by the time I got back to my truck and when I shifted, I got into the duffle bag I keep in the backseat and threw some clothes on. Upon my return to the suite, I found everything clean, and the broken furniture replaced with new pieces. I loved what Monica picked out for mom and she will love it when she and dad comes back tomorrow. Everyone was downstairs for dinner, but I did not feel like joining them. I heated up some beef stew that was in the freezer and went to my room to eat when it was done. My homework was waiting for me when I walked in, so I started on it while I ate my dinner. I have AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and accounting to get done before tomorrow. An hour later, Kassandra teleported into my room, just checking on me. “I heard you gave each of the boys a black eye for busting up the living room,” she smiled, sitting down on my bed. “Mom and dad are going to be pissed when they get home tomorrow,” I sighed, closing my book. “Do you feel like sneaking out and going swimming tonight?” she asked. I would love to, but I have a lot of homework. “Not tonight. Too much homework to do,” I explained. "Take a break, sis. You are the valedictorian and have a GPA over 4.0. You deserve it,” she tried to convince me. Because of my grades, I got a scholarship at Berkley and Stanford, but I am thinking of going to Berkley to be close to Gramps and Nene. “Not tonight. Thank you for asking.” Kassandra nodded and left my room. When mom and dad are gone, all of my siblings except Emma go crazy. I am surprised that Nana has stuck around because of the other six. Even Soma has gotten a wild streak and been sneaking out with her friends. My phone rang, and it was Leo. I answered it before it went to voicemail. “Hello?” I said. “How has your day been?” he asked. “I am ready to strangle my brothers and Kassandra and Soma are going to sneak out tonight and wanting me to go with them,” I sighed, running my hand through my auburn hair. “Why do they do this every time your parents are out of town?” “Because mom and dad don’t let them get away with anything and as soon as they leave, all of them except Emma go crazy. The boys busted the living room again and Kassandra and Soma is going swimming tonight at the waterfall,” I explained to him. “I am sorry, Pip. But to cheer you up, I will be there in a couple of days for your birthday. I have everything planned and reservations made for us,” he told me, and I smiled. “I cannot wait to see you! It’s been since my fourteenth birthday was the last time I saw you,” I said excitedly. “I know. But I have to go to go on this mission before I come to the pack for a lead on the hunter’s headquarters and their leader. I hope this is the right one,” he told me. He has had several leads and every single one of them was a dead end. It is like they know when he sends his special ops team in and there is no trace of them being at the location. "Please come here once you’ve finished your mission.” “I will, but I have to go. My schedule is full of meetings and I wanted to start my day by talking to you,” he told me sweetly. “I love you and take care of yourself. Talk to you soon.” “Be careful and I love you, too,” and hung up the phone. Glancing at his picture, I cannot wait until I could finally claim him as my mate.
