"No, that's all," Wilona said. "Make two copies for me and send one copy to Mr. William. This document will be discussed in the meeting at the beginning of the month, next month, but I think Mr. William might need to study it first."
"Yes, Ms. Miles, I will make it for you and Mr. William soon. Ah, it's almost lunch time, do you want to go out to eat or do you want me to order something?" asked Eliza Mundo. She was one of Wilona's secretaries.
Since being appointed as VP of Human Capital, Wilona has had two secretaries, namely Eliza Mundo, a 22-year-old girl who is agile and nimble, and sociable. The other is Ricky Phanacarawie, a Thai man who is also skilled in muaythai martial arts and driving all kinds of motor vehicles, so he is more like a bodyguard for Wilona.
"Uh, I think I will eat at the apartment today. I am waiting for the AC cleaner and he will probably be there soon," said Wilona, after checking the watch on her arm. "If I don't come back by three, please handle the matter with Mr. Tony Warren first. He will just hand over the documents containing the new staff data that he needs."
"Yes, of course, Ms. Miles. Do you need to order something to eat at the apartment?"
"No need. I still have some groceries in the refrigerator that I can prepare quickly."
Half an hour before lunch time, the AC repairman that Wilona was waiting for called and said that he would arrive in 40 minutes.
Wilona said goodbye to Eliza and immediately returned to the apartment, waiting for the AC repairman to arrive.
She decided to make spaghetti with creamy sauce and sliced sausages and potatoes, after looking at the contents of her refrigerator. It was a quick and practical dish.
Wilona had just served her homemade spaghetti on a plate and was pouring mineral water into a glass, when the doorbell rang. She looked at the wall clock and nodded in satisfaction. The AC repairman was really punctual.
"You came rig--"
Wilona's words hung in the air because when she opened the door, she didn't see the AC repairman, but someone else with his face covered by a pile of pizza boxes.
Then, the pile of pizza boxes fell and Josh's smiling face appeared in front of Wilona. He was still wearing his dark blue suit, with a tie hanging loosely around his neck and slightly messy hair.
"Lunch? Delivery order," Josh said cheerfully.
Without waiting to be told, Josh pushed Wilona on her shoulder gently, so he could go inside, passing the dumbfounded Wilona.
Wilona closed the door angrily and followed Josh. "Hey, Josh, I'm waiting for the AC repairman and he should--"
Josh turned around and pressed his left chest, his lips pouting. "Uh, I'm heartbroken. I thought you were waiting for me. You didn't even tell me you were going to go home and eat at the apartment."
"Uh, I thought, a company owner's permission wasn't needed just for a staff to have lunch outside, right?" Wilona said confusedly. "Even if I have to ask for permission, isn't my direct superior Aaron?"
"Tsk!" Josh snickered. "Not permission from me as the owner of the company, but as your fiancé. I don't really like eating alone."
"Fi-fiancé," Wilona stuttered. "W-when were we engaged?"
"Since we met your ex-husband and his family," Josh said calmly, opening one of the pizza boxes. He pointed at the mouth-watering pizza circle. "Come on, accompany me to eat. I won't be able to finish all of this by myself."
Wilona sat on the other sofa near Josh. Her saliva almost dripped seeing the pizza slices on the table.
"Don't make it up, Josh," Wilona said. "It's all just an act. I don't like the way he looks at me and I think he'll back off when he finds out I'm with someone too."
"Oh, I'm glad I got him to back off then, but don't you think he still wants you? His eyes didn't leave you even when we were in the car," Josh said calmly. "I'm sure he won't consider that meeting as the last."
Josh's words sent a chill down Wilona's spine. She didn't like meeting Sonny that night at all and had spontaneously held Josh's hand as if they were a couple.
Josh didn't talk about it at all after he got home and Wilona didn't want to say anything either, so everything passed and went back to normal the past four days, after the incident at the restaurant.
"Do you think he'll try to meet me again?" Wilona asked softly.
Josh shrugged. "That man has a great curiosity and he doesn't give up easily when he wants something. Do you remember what he said to you the first time we met?"
"He--" Wilona's face flushed. "He said I was getting prettier."
"That's it!" Josh said in a satisfied tone. "He must want to meet you again because he's curious about why his ex-wife became prettier after breaking up with him, instead of becoming shabby, ugly, and messy."
Wilona clenched her fists tightly. "Is that possible?"
"Well, never mind, if you don't believe me," Josh said indifferently. "Just eat the pizza. I already bought it. And what's that smell? Are you cooking something?"
Wilona was amazed by Josh's rapid change from one mood to another. The man lived as if he had no worries and was very easy going.
She got up and took a plate of spaghetti, then served it to Josh. The man was already here, so he might as well eat before the spaghetti got soggy.
The AC repairman came when Wilona was eating a slice of pizza and Josh, who had finished first, helped by showing the man what needed to be cleaned and fixed.
"This is the bill that you need to pay, ma'am," said the AC repairman, after his task was finished. "You can transfer it to our company account number and send the proof of transfer to the number below it."
"Okay, I'll do it in a moment," said Wilona. "I need to check first if everything is really in order."
The AC repairman left and Wilona stared at her dirty floor and some parts of the walls that were covered in dust.
"Don't you have a vacuum cleaner?" asked Josh.
"No. I still haven't had time to buy household equipment because after returning from Manchester, I need to adjust to work first," said Wilona in a sad tone.
"Then, let's go," said Josh, grabbing Wilona's hand and pulling her out of the kitchen.
"Hey, where are you going?" asked Wilona in panic.
"Race Hardware. I also need to buy a vacuum cleaner and a humidifier. Let's do it at the same time," said Josh. He took Wilona's jacket and bag from the hanger near the corridor.
Really, Josh was like a hurricane. He moved very quickly and did not feel embarrassed at all. He did not ask anything and immediately dragged Wilona out of the apartment and towards the elevator.
"Josh, don't you need to go back to the office?" asked Wilona. "It's almost three o'clock."
"I own the company, Baby," said Josh while winking at Wilona. "I gave myself and my VP permission to work only half a day, today."
Wilona felt her cheeks turn bright red seeing Josh's attitude like that. Did he always act like that or was he just teasing her?
Josh did not let go of Wilona's hand at all after arriving at Race Hardware, the largest household goods and building materials supermarket in the city. He pointed to this and that, two each, for his apartment and Wilona's apartment.
"Josh, there's no need to buy two of everything, especially for tools that won't be used every day," Wilona said as she returned a box of electric drills. "We can just borrow each other if we need to."
"Oh, that's right," Josh said cheerfully. "Then I have an excuse to come to your place to borrow this and that, or vice versa, you come to mine."
Wilona reached out and pinched Josh's waist affectionately. The man continued to test her emotions.
Josh laughed and playfully pointed his forehead at Wilona's forehead, which made her groan while rubbing her forehead.
"If making out in public could make money, you guys would be very rich right now," a voice said from behind Wilona and Josh.
Both of them turned and Sonny was looking at them, to be exact, looking at Wilona with an annoyed look.
Josh pulled Wilona's hand and brought it behind his back to protect it from Sonny's gaze.
"If staring at someone else's fiancée could get you a thousand dollar fine, you'd be broke by now, sir," Josh said coldly. "Who are you?"
"Fiancée?" Sonny hissed.
"Yes. This is my fiancée and it has none of your business what we do in public," Wilona said, stepping out from behind Josh's back.
She pressed herself against Josh, who immediately grabbed her waist possessively.
"Let's get out of here, honey," Wilona said. "My shopping spree is over."
Josh shot Sonny one more glare and turned, taking Wilona in his arms.
But Sonny moved quickly, grabbing Wilona's hand.
"We need to talk, Wilona!"
