Vaughn had to stop himself from kissing Shaina when Remmy walked into the dining room. He slowly straightened up, while Shaina looked behind her.
“I’ll go change and see you in a bit?” he murmured instead.
She smiled and nodded to him. “I’ll just help Remmy take care of these.” She referred to the dishes.
“Oh, no, ma’am. I’ll just do it myself,” Remmy countered hastily, glancing at Vaughn apprehensively.
In the corner of his eye, he saw Wallace appear.
“Are you sure?” Shaina asked the housekeeper.
The woman bobbed her head, and the widow thanked her. She followed Vaughn, who tried his best to ignore Wallace.
“Zeb’s found a house! He’s going to buy it through a borrowed name!” Wallace informed him.
Vaughn went still for a moment, which made Shaina stop in her tracks and turn to him.
