HER THOUGHTS WERE EVERYWHERE but on her job and the next day’s meeting with a potential new and lucrative account when she walked into the bank. She flashed her badge absently to security and started to move past to the elevator that would take her up to the ninth floor.
She didn’t notice Josh waiting at the other end of the security desk, watching for her until he stepped out in front of her and startled her. Her free hand flew to her heart.
“You surprised me!”
“Sorry,” Josh said.
He had an odd look about him and it gave her pause. “Is everything okay?”
“Fine. It’s just fine; as far as I know. I do need you to come with me, however.”
