SHE WALKED BACK TO her apartment in a daze. She’d left that morning knowing she needed to make a change but this...this. She sat on her couch, elbows resting on her knees, her head in her hands, wondering how things moved so far so fast.
“Summarily fired for violating moral decency standards as outlined in her contract,” the woman had said. She complained at first that she’d simply gone into a coffee shop to buy a smoothie but the woman had said nothing more. ‘How could she?’ Amanda thought. ‘There isn’t any more.’
She stewed for more than an hour thinking she should have fought them. She should have refused to sign the paper. She sighed. It was already done.
