Fire My eyes instantly bolted open. My racing heart echoed in my ears and I felt as if I were flying. It was like my body was still asleep but my mind had other plans of its own. I looked up and realized someone had closed the curtains of the window, but even so, I could see the first powerful rays of light shining brightly outside. I wondered if it was just the brightness or if it truly was warmer than before.  I still had the blanket wrapped around me, engulfing me in a cocoon of warmth. My body felt sore and it ached slightly, but my mind was wide awake, ready to face the day. It was a strange feeling I had never felt before and I hoped I never had to again.  The sound of the door opening would have made me jump if only my body was awake.
