The words run around in my mind as I try to make sense of what Xavier is saying.
It all sounds ludicrous. I was just with her. I dropped her off, and I saw her walking into the building.
She was safe…she was safe…
Xavier must be mistaken. There is no way it’s her.
“What?” I ask, shaking my head in confusion.
I stare at him and I can see the devastation, fear and the helplessness in his eyes and body as he tries to explain to me what happen.
None of it makes any sense.
But when he says that there’s a woman who lives there, and she was assaulted by some men who wanted to scare her… it all makes horrible sense that they might have been there for her.
