When Tristan finished peeling the orange, he tore a piece off and offered it to Pip. They sat in the park, under an oak, watching the ducks glide over the water. It was close to four and getting a little chilly. Pip took the orange slice from him and popped it into his mouth. His cheeks were pink, but he had a warm sweater on and insisted he wasn’t cold. In the last hours, while Rain had slept, Tristan had tried playing soccer with Pip, but Pip was too afraid of the ball. He loved the game, though. Just couldn’t handle that ball heading his way.
